Leupold VXR

We have some in stock. They are designed from the the discontinued European model. These have 30 mm bodies and are illuminated. Prices range from $552 (1.25-4x20) to $846 (4-12x50). The illumination control is on the left side (where you would see a side parallax adjustment) where it contains a CR 2032 battery and a push and hold button the activates and adjusts the intensity (I suspect that Leupold may use this system on their other illuminated models in the future as it seems a much better system). Most customers who have handled this scope have been very impressed with the quality of image and intensity of illumination. Phil.

Used one for the first time today at the range, and the image clarity ranks up with the VX3 or better. The reticle is very sharp and crisp. Whereas I didn't really use the firedot, an interesting feature is the fact that you can turn it on and off by just holding in the side button for 2 seconds or so. I am very impresed with it.

Yeah I bought the VX-R 3-9 x40 CDS for my Ruger Alaskan. I am having to wait for scope rings, so I don't have a range report yet, but it looks like a great scope.

How did it work for you?

Well I finally had it out to the range briefly last weekend to sight it in. I used factory ammo and it shot about 1.25-1.5" groups. I would rate the clarity of the glass to my VXIII 2.5-8 which is very good. The cross hairs are a little thick, but I knew that when I bought it due to the illumination center. The one feature I do like is the quick adjust eyepiece. Overall I am very happy with it, and I will probably buy another. I haven't tried out the CDS yet, but will do when my 375 TTSX bullets get here. All in, my factory Alaskan weighs 9lbs scoped. Don't know how much that will change with the McMillan when it arrives.

Just installed a 4-12X50 with the Ballistic Fire-Dot on my Rem 700 30-06. Impressed with the clarity, I'd put it on par with a VX-3 so seems to be good glass for the dollar. No alumina flip cap for the new eye piece, may have to go with a Butler Creek. Next range trip will be to investigate the hold over points for distances.

So far I'm thumbs up on this new scope.
