Is there any improvement in durability, recoil resistance and accuracy of tracking as you move through the VXI to VXIII line of scopes? Are the differences entirely in the lenses, reticles, etc, or does Leupold put a better adjustment mechanism in the higher end scopes?

If I'm happy enough with the optics of a VXII, can I expect it to hold up just as well as a VXIII?

Hmmm good question. :)

I've read that all the internals are the same, you are only paying for better lense quality, coatings and the like. Personally I can see quite a diff between the vx11 and vx111. One thing I've noticed about the Leu brand, if you ever want to sell it there seems to be no end of buyers willing to pay for a good return on your dollar. Can't really say the same about a lot of other brands.

Not quite accurate. The Rifleman, VX-1, and VX-2 are built on the same basic frame with the differences being adjustments, coatings and reticles. The VX-3 on the other hand is built entirely different with the internal lenses mounted in their own assembly and then inserted into the main body. The coatings are also better (Diamond coat), the gas inside is Argon/Krypton vs nitrogen, twin bias spring erector system to eliminate backlash and with different adjustments and reticles. VX-3's have a higher light transmission and I would say by the lense mounting system they are more durable. Having said all that...all Leupold scopes carry lifetime warranty. Phil.
