Leupold

Yes, Leupold used to make a Tactical VXII, but it is discontinued.

Yes, I now understand the aftermarket target knobs are no longer for VXIII only as when this product was introduced. if you check with Brownell's or else yo can confirm.

regards,

You can buy Stoney Point target turrets that engage the coin slot on the factory adjustment knobs and screw in place of the dust covers....a real slick outfit for sure. I'm getting one or two for my Vari-X III 4.5-14x50 a/o currently mounted on my 260 Rem which also serves duty on my 300 RUM. The nice thing about these is that they are lazer engraved with MOA fractions and are easily removed without any damage to the factory parts. They are not cheap however are quality and do serve well.

Stoney points are the least in-expensive way to go. (btw - you should have checked the for sale adds, I know of at least one pair still for sale -cheap:D )....or you can send the scope to Korth Agencies (licensed leupold repair) in Okotoks, Ab. (I think) to have oem turrets put on. The advantage to the factory turrets, is they have a positive 'click' and are graduated to actual 1/4 moa, whereas the Stoneys are not.

Picked up a set at P&D :) - now just to decide what scopes to mount them on. (One's going on a 6.5x55 hunting rifle, for sure.)

They come as a pair and are marked "U/R", so you can use them for either windage or elevation.

I'm thinking that it would be most practical to mount them on two different scopes for elevation only. Probably one on a Vari X II and the other on a Vari X III.

At first blush, they look well made. Can't wait to see how they perform.

I used those turrets on my VXIII for 3 years, they went with it when I sold it. They are fantastic, I never adjusted them after the first zero, and made many trips to the range shooting at all distances, they were always dead on.

The turrets were simple to install. They appear to change the elevation consistently (the adjustments appear very repeatable when looking at the bore sighter). Haven't tried a range trip yet, but, if the results pan out, I think there may be a few more rifles that could benefit from this handy accessory.

Beltfed,

I would like to purchase a set of these too! Who has them for sale for Leupolds in the sale forum?

If you're looking for the Stoney Points for a Leupy, I have a near-new set for sale -pm me if you are interested.:)

Has anyone considered contacting Leupold? I understand they install Leupold target turrets as an aftermarket service (for a price of course).

Terry Perkins

The place to call is Korth Agencies here in Alberta. They are the factory authorized repair depot for Canada. The price I believe is in the 130-140$ amount, but you'd best call them to get a quote.
