For what its worth, I have one of these Grey Ghost Gear carriers. Very nicely made and lightweight piece of kit, its minimalistic but well thought out.

does anyone make a plate carrier with soft armor integrated? By this I mean plates front/back but soft armor on the sides or covering areas the plate does not?
I'm 6foot+ and hard plates only cover part of my chest and back. Having soft armor outside of the hard plates seems like a good idea to me.

You can get hard side plates, as well as attachments to hold armour that cover your stomach/groin.

You can also get larger plates than 10x12 (I've seen 11x14).

Look for carriers that have BALCS cut inserts. I know Paraclete used to make them.
