Does it really matter to the shooters?

Does it matter to the ROs?

Say you could hypothetically shoot a match that is a level III with 190 rounds in 10 stages for $100

or

A level II match with 190 rounds in 10 stages for $100

Would you really care?

Maybe its because I am such a p!ss poor shooter but rank doesn't mean any thing to me. I compete with, and laugh at, myself. The joy is in being able to get out and shoot.

I see a middle ground. I could care less about the level. Having heard about the grief associated with Level 3 sanctioning, I'd pass and stick with Level 2's.

As for the match fees, when the tariff climbs above $50, I have to start watching my $$. I get that to pull off a massive 10+ stage match, you need to build. However, when I {might} have 1-3 weekends a month to shoot, and the cost of shooting the matches at my favourite clubs has climbed that much, I wind up having to skip a few.

Is it really much extra work for the Level 3? We don't have many of such matches when results are posted to the world web site and every one of them counts.

For those who don't want to be competitive, what is the point then to go to the matches? May as well just go to the range on their own and shoot even more. No waiting and no registration fees, isn't that even better?

wow, $100.00 -190 round 10 stage matches

That would curtail my attendance.

My club is having its june match L2 this weekend 11 stages, 200 rnds bring your own food & drink $20.00

Same thing last month

How many shooters are attending those matches?

In May there was 22 competitors, not large turnouts like Ontario as you have a huge population base vs here in New Brunswick. We expect about the same Saturday.

$20.00 is standard fair in this neck of the woods unless we hold 2 day matches.

Next month we will be providing food & drink on the range at minimal cost. $5.00 will get you an excellent hamburger, a hot dog and a pop

I don't care so long as it's an actual IPSC match, and not some club level nonesense (and I'm not talking about Level I's either, I'll go to those too). But $100 is waaaaay to much. If I'm paying that much it better have a much higher round count. Or be of an exceptionally high quality as far as stages. And I don't mean gimmicky props either, I mean well designed stages that test all shooters abilities. IPSC is about shooting, not about colored balls and small buckets to dump them in, or hand/eye coordination tests that don't involve shooting.

Our average Level II match in Manitoba runs $25.00 with 6 stages 140 rounds in the winter and 10 stages and 200 rounds in the summer.

Our Provincials (a Level III 2 day shoot) is going up $20 this year to $110 for 17 stages and about 350 rounds.

$100 for 10 stages seems like alot around these parts, and not likely to get a huge turn out. Regardless of the level, the sticker shock would keep alot of shooters away with only 10 stages.

Have YOU ever hosted one? I guess not, because then the question would be irrelevant!

And "WHO" is this "WE" that you flaunt around? Again, have YOU hosted one?

For those who don't want to be competitive, what is the point then to go to the matches?

Does it really matter whether one is competitive or not? In your eyes? Maybe I just want to shoot for the sake of shooting! Is that not a valid reason?

May as well just go to the range on their own and shoot even more. No waiting and no registration fees, isn't that even better?

I do that anyways......go to the range that is! But I really joined IPSC to piss people off! I, apparently, am really good at it! Maybe IPSC Ontario will refund my dues, cause I am just so damn good at pissing people off! LOL

the only advantage for a level 3 for me is that i can IROA points. While it would be nice to get a presidents medal i am always second it seems.

Well it is a fund raiser for Charity with a charitiable tax reciept.........

hypothetically that is.

well if you are a top shooter and go to all the matches and looking for bragging rights it matters

but if you are in for the fun of it and only do several matches a year (local to you club or where your friend shoot and only compete against your friends or against your self it does not matter (it least to me)

having fun and learning some thing is the way to go (so next time you shoot smarter)

I suppose you haven't hosted one either. Otherwise you would just answer the question.

I am still new to the sport, but to me seeing number and quality of the Level 3 matches is some way to promote the sport and attract new local shooters, as well as shooters from other countries. The international aspect is already pretty bad in Canada, you can judge by how many Canadians attending international matches or even placing top at those matches, we all know who they are and there isn't many of them.
