Gunnutz, use your awesome powers of persuasion to make me get a lever action rimfire. Besides classic good looks, how practical are they field wise. They seem to be shorter and handier than most other actions and I like tube feds that can hold shorts, longs and LR. Which is a good one? The Henry looks appealing at it's price point.

I have had two Browning BL22's. The basic and now the fancier grade. Both were slick and smooooooooth and very comfortable to shoulder. The action is a little tricky to clean but do-able. It feeds all the cheap and fancy 22 LR fodder. They are very feathery and quick I have shot many a fox with mine. The ONLY downside is they aren't very handy for "truck" use. The tube mag is a pain to load in a hury. I would definately say worth the money they are pricey for a 22.

I have one of the Henrys, the base model "lever action". Its light, and handles nice. I find it plenty accuarate, I just use the iron sights. There are grooves to mount a scope, but I didnt because I like the look without.

I have a baseline Henry .22.....very fun rifle for the bucks...I put a scope on it cause the eyes ain't as young as they used to be...Smoothest action in the world....tube mag holds 15 .22lr....which is lots for me...Seems durable enough if you don't abuse it....The hammer serves as the safety and is a little tricky, but easy to get used to....I find accuracy depends on the ammo mainly....As I say, a very fun gun...good one to bring to the range if you take your girlfriend along...she'll have a blast...

So many to choose from. Being a Marlin fan, I'd love a 39. Anyone know of a good place that sells Marlins? Then again $600+ is sort of steep. How are them Henry's? Those who have BL22s, how is the short stroke? Is it advantageous over other levers? For Winchester 9422 users, I hear the Norinco JW-21 is suppose to be a 9422 clone. What say you about that? Thanks for the replies.

I would choose a Marlin 39A, Winchester 9422, or Browning BL22. The zinc and plastic parts on the Henry just don't turn my crank. For me, part of the appeal of the levergun is that they're "old school" and sort of a premium product, using traditional methods of construction. A difference of a couple hundred bucks is trivial over the long run compared to the satisfaction of owning something nice.

Keep an eye out for a used Marlin,Browning or Winchester.
The Winchesters are nice and a little less common in the EE but there's a browning on there right now for around $400 if I remember correctly and Marlin's pop up for around $400 as well.
Last month I walked into a gun store to get some ammo and left with a 39A that they had in the used rack for $275...... it's an older one without the rebounding hammer and was in great shape complete with the hood and a hammer extension. It also has slimmer foreend wood then the typical Marlins.

I have had them all. I liked the Winchester 9422 the best. The action is really smooth. The Browning has a short stroke but it is a heavier stroke.

I just bought a baseline Henry. Haven't shot it yet, so don't know about accuracy, but I've always liked the looks of a lever action.

I have owned Winchester 9422's in both LR & .22 Mag, and a Marlin 39M. Really enjoyed all of them, but like a fool sold them all in a moment of weakness (insanity). Now am looking for a good used Marlin 39M to replace my old one. Have seen a few in the EE and have noticed that they seem to get sold within 15 minutes of the ad being posted! Still looking and hoping to get lucky.
