Hey gunnies,
This will seem strange, but I have a Winchester 94 from 1955 that is being totally redone. (It rusted away in a soggy gun case for a few years in a basement.) The damage was terrible.
All the metal has been sandblasted and is going to be Cerakoted.
The stock was badly cracked in a few places, so I'm going with a Boyd's laminate.
I'm going to mount an XS lever scout 94AE rail on the barrel for a reflex sight.
And now, just for fun, I'm wondering about using a crazy Marlin front barrel band with a picatinny slot. There's a ton of neat stuff you can attach to a picatinny rail, not least of which is a sling swivel ... or a light!
But, here's the ru
I have no idea if the front barrel band, which is available for a Marlin 336, will fit my 1955 Winchester Model 94.
I imagine the .30-30 barrel and .30-30 tube magazine on run-of-the-mill sporter levers are all similarly sized (maybe they aren't, I don't know!), but the spacing between them might be different on the two guns.
The front barrel band I'm hoping to buy is a clamshell design: http://www.grizzlycustom.com/parts_marlin.html
I emailed the owner, but he obviously doesn't care much for Winchesters and has never tried it on a Winchester 94 to see if it would fit.
Thoughts?
Would the Marlin 336 barrel band fit a 1955 Winchester 94?
I'm sorry to all the Winchester fans out there who won't approve of any of this. Had the gun not been destined for the scrap heap, given the heavy rusting, I would never have done any of this. Just trying to save her ... and have some fun with an old girl!
