Ive got the king of the small levers......yes guys ...a henry, .......its such a great little gun, i love it, feeds anything and very nicely balanced, super price as well

I've got a couple of Winchester model 250's, but all I've ever used in them is LR, I don't remember the last time I bought anything else. They do however feed those very well.

I bought one new in about 1955 when my pay was 50 cents an hour. Feeds well but doesn't shoot worth a darn anymore. Anyone know how I could get a new barell? I'd probably switch to a Mountie bbl if I could.

Numrich (e-gun parts) sells barrels for the 39-A, and they do ship to Canada.

Loading gate .22's- there was one- the first Marlin lever .22's used a loading gate, the 1892, IIRC. The 1873 Winchester also used a gate, and was offered for a brief time in .22 cal...

As to the original post- I have a '54 Marlin 39-A that is VERY accurate and smooth operating. No problems with it yet. Also have a 94-22-M in WMR that is quite accurate. Had to replace the fore-end on it though- it started getting loose. Both the Winchester and Marlin lever .22's are reliable and accurate. The 39-A gets my nod over the 94-22 simply because it fits me better...

I have one from 1948 still great barrell!! You sure your barrel doesn't have lead build up!!!! Try a Tornado bore brush,you may have lead build up in your micro-grove barrel!!!

Mod 39 with no scope holes

Well it's either a Mod 39 or 39A from back in 1955-56. would it be a crime to drill into it for a scope?? I bought it off someone who put only 10-20- rounds through it & I haven't shot it yet. Will this hurt it's value??
