Lever action vs Semi Auto

.22s are fun and addictive so I would suggest BOTH. LOL. You don't have to do it all at once but you will enjoy shooting them all just the same. Lever and semi's can be quite accurate but bolt actions will usually be more so but I have no problem poking grouse and bunnies in the head at 30 yards and sometimes a little further. Currently I am shooting the Browning SA , the Browning lever as well as a Buckmark rifle with a sweet Vortex strikefire on top and they are all alot of fun and I know my kids enjoy them and will continue to after I am gone.
Currently I am saving for a 1885 low wall in .22 but these things take time.

Both... its inevitable

If you shoot gophers or truck hunt for grouse or birds get the semi, if you like to take walks for bird or rabbit get the lever.

I've got a semi, a lever, pump and bolt. It's not like I can shoot 4 guns at once and like to keep things minimal but I can't come to letting any of them go... but at least I don't have a bunch of money tied up with them like long range rigs or high end rifles with expensive scopes.

It's not a "need" per say, but you really do need one of each type.

Since it's not mentioned yet... And as you already have a well made .22 bolt, a 10/22 with a heavy 16" barrel. The ones I have shot were very accurate. Probably one of the best gopher guns ever. Now that's if you prefer scopes. For open sight .22's, the pump and lever style guns become a more viable choice for walking /trails.

I grew up shooting a browning bl22 and I have nailed gophers at 150-200 yards consistently with a 7x scope I have never had a jam the only problem we had in 40+years was the firing pin broke once. all around good gun and its fun to shoot I would recommend it to anybody
