Lever action

Great tree stand gun.

Not much good after 100 yards, but short range, fine gun.

I have often though of getting something like it for that same purpose.

I debated the same thing, but ended up deciding on a .35Rem. Should be a good little brush buster.

Only in the 94 Winchesters.....
The 30-30 in Marlin (336 etc.) uses the larger Model 95 reciever.
Pistol cals are found in the Much Smaller Marlin 94 ;)
(exception...they did make a 44 mag model with the 336/95 reciever once)
My Fav is the Marlin 94 Stainless in 44 Mag :cool:

You might want to put the names of the rifles on poker chips, and put them in a jar, shake them up, and the poker chip you pull out is the rifle you take that day. :D
 
damn that's alotta guns! Do those light lever guns kick back a lot? (I can shoot my 870 18" with 3" slugs fine w/o an aftermarket recoil pad but I hear the 45-70 is brutal) Can you hunt lots of game with a 45-70?

I have three rifles chambered in the 44 rem, two are levers and one is a semi. Great deer round!! As for the 45-70 for deer, why of course, I have a Marlin 1895G for that purpose, lots of punch!!
 
The Marlin'94 in .44 Mag. is an excellent choice and drops game out of proportion to it's size!! Use heavy cast bullets with large flat point and you could use it on even larger game at close range. The '95 in .45/70 is just a whole lot more of the same just not as light and handy!
 
Will the 45-70 make my arm eventually fall off from the punch? 3" slugs are okay through my 12 ga so I hope it's less kick than that.

That will depend how hot you load it. There are lots of stories of "405 gr. @ 1950+ fps." but these sorts of loads are really not necessary unless you're looking for a "stopping rifle" (usually a Guide Gun). Even at "only" 1650-1700 fps. those big slugs are pretty effective. Just make sure you put a really good recoil pad on it. I have a Pachmayr Decelerator on mine and it's pretty good; I've heard good reports about Sims pads, too.

My .44 mag. 1894 is much more fun to shoot, though. I pack it in the bush, loaded with 265 gr. Hornady FP behind a stout load of H110 for "serious purposes"; 240 gr. Bullet Barn hard-cast FP propelled by 2400 are good (and cheaper) for plinking and would no doubt flatten a bruin if called upon to do so (with good shot placement, of course!)

Pardon my ignornace, cause I don't know about pistol rounds in rifles...44 mags are much more powerful in a rifle? Does it have a lot of stopping power for say, deer, "zombies" and whatnot?
 
I know guys that use the 44 with alot of success on deer in the 50 yds and under range, good brush gun. My buddy still has a Ruger semi auto in 44 mag that he won't sell to me.

The Winchester 94's in 44 are also good for close shots.

As for zombies, really not sure as there is no such thing.
 
Hmm, it seems the .44 mag is the go to gun, but then why the 45-70; what's that used for traditionally? Longer rangeS?
