You guys see Lever Arms new Site? They got Iver Johnson 1911 in stock. They look good. Did a search on them here. Not much info. You guys handle one or shoot it? I see they don't have the cf98 in stock any more. Kinda like them, Was thinking about buying one but no extra mags available.

Yes the Iver Johnson 1911s are made by Armscor in the Philippines. So they should be pretty decent guns for the money. From what i have read, they are pretty much identical to the Citidel and Charles Daly1911s that Armscor is churning out, but a small step below the RIA guns in overall fit and finish. And the RIAs are a step below the Spartan that Armscor makes for STI. That seems to be the hierarchy of Armscor-made guns.

Thanks for this info. I was trying to figure out the heirarchy of the various 1911's coming out of the Philipines.

With the advent of the "Wild Bunch" match in Cowboy Action there undoubtedly continue to be a plethora of "new" 1911's to mee the demand.

Well it's official, I bought a Commander Length Iver Johnson Trojan.

It is for the GF for Christmas so I hope the CFO will send it through in time.

If she likes it, I will send it off to be Hard Chromed as she wants a "Shiny" Pearl handled commander length .45.
It then clears the way for an AR next year.

If she doesn't, I keep it for IDPA.

Win Win.

Yes I can see the demanding of 1911 getting higher and higher, at least I am after another, to be a .45. Looks like they also get into European market.

Way to go dinsdale. Thinking of the GF. Thats a good way of geting them in the house. I tell my wife there for her and she can shoot them any time. That just the kind of guys we are:D

LOL!

In a remarkable side point, the gun transfer was approved in a speedy 4 hours. Shipped today. Maybe the Ontario CFO is just slow with private transfers, or I could be charmed!

Now to try and find room in the safe and plan a way to get it home without the GF noticing!

Iver Johnson is not the same company as before, they just bought the name, and NO, they are not made by Armscor (unlike STI Spartan and RIA - Rock Island Armory), they are made by SAM (Sporting Arms Manufacturing) in the Philippines (major parts and assembly is Philippines, minor parts from the US).

So, at the factory in the Philipines, is Armscor the front door and SMA the back door, or visa-versa? :p
