so I disassembled the bolt and had a good look at the firing pin...the rounded end has a burr on it, something I noticed when I first cleaned/inspected it after purchasing...this could be the cause of the failure to fire, although the pin is striking the primer every time it is struck by the hammer.
the bolt appears to be locking up tight to the chamber, but not being a gunsmith or being very familiar with measuring headspacing, I will be getting it checked out.
the Czech 7.62 milsurp ammo I have is stamped 59, this is the year of manufacture...anyone else have trouble with light primer strikes not detonating the primer on this year of ammo?...note the deformity in the firing pin crater in the last two primers on the right due to the burred firing pin
I am thinking of trying a new firing pin...where can I get one of the new spring loaded types??...I will not be using commercially manufactured ammo with soft primers with this rifle as I do not feel like experiencing slam-fires or full-auto bursts (at the range anyways)...being reduced to firing one round at a time and reloading after every shot takes away from the fun of semi-auto, which is what it's all supposed to be about with this SKS while target shooting!
The serial numbers on this rifle match up as follows:
-receiver,trigger guard,bolt carrier are the same.
-bolt assembly different.
-electro pencil number on gas tube different again.

your pic of the chamber against the bolt looks about in right position compared to my 2 sks , the chamber is about 2mm pass the receiver towards the rear.
is there much movement in the bolt when in the lock position (depress bolt) ?
