As I was going to go mow the lawn at the range I had to make a tough decision. Which firearms would accompany me to make the trip worthwhile?
Looking through the big safe sparked no inspiration. I didn't feel like doing anything precision, I just finished cleaning my plinking pistols, and I have been struggling with some issues with my right shoulder so have been avoiding the heavy hitters.
Perusing through one of the overflow safes my eyes rested on a golden trigger.
Hmm my B92 .44 mag. I bought this rifle with the intention of getting it re barreled with a heavier 1/21 twist for more versatile cast bullet shooting.
I was unable to find someone to barrel a lever gun for me and the rifle went on the back burner. I decided to see how well it did with Hornady XTP's as I had no cast that would feed in this rifle.
As an afterthought I grabbed the marlin .357, I had only shot it once and put it away pending ordering some skinner sights that I never quite got around to buying.

After I finished mowing I parked the mower behind the truck and got out the rifles. Offhand at 50 yards just plinking at some steel. The Marlin couldn't miss with the NOE 180 grain wfn bullets. The .44 didn't do so well. I put some paper up to see what was going on and it would seem that my highest rear sight setting isn't quite enough. Also need to drift it a bit. When I bought it I was cursing the person who cut the stock and installed a pad on it. After shooting it I am saying a little prayer for their well being. I swear it kicks more than my Marlin .444.

All in all a fun little plinking session that would have been good cheap fun if I hadn't backed over the lawn mower when I tried to leave.
