I got a terrible hankering to burn some powder and feel some shoulder bumps sooooooooooo......I think I'm gonna have a little lever gun go 'round this aft when the sun warms up a bit. I'll just go up and shoot in my shop yard where I have a little more than 30 mtrs, but it'll still knock the cobwebs out and clear the sinuses. Oh ya and give something to load as well...........

My 38-56 hasn't been fired yet, neither have my 2 NRA 94s in 30-30, or a couple of my 38-55s, my 40-82, 40-72, 38-72s, several 25-20s and 32-20s and a couple 25-35s................well anyway ya'll get the idea. I'm thinking just some good old can kicking, rapid fire from the shoulder and a little sight checking before hand........should be able to kill a couple hours and a few hundred rounds pretty easy. Yep, I think I'll stack the Ranger box full of old lever guns and ammo and have a great old time..........which will drive the neighbors insane as they just despise the sound of gunfire..........;);) :d:d :runaway::runaway:

Can't really think of a better way to kill a couple sunny hours this aft, and the shop is right handy if a guy gets a little chill on.

Have fun, Douglas... I have snow comimg down at a rate of 3 cm/hr... won't be kicking cans for a couple months.

Kupple 25-35's.............eh?
Butt yew only need one?
I have a brann spank'in new set oh RCBS 25-35 dies and no ker-pow to load for.

Ranger?
Thought you had a Rhino?

Think of the cows when pull'in the trigger.

Oh, have fun fun fun...........................................:dancingbanana:

'Looky...............

Actually I think I have 4 - 25-35s..........a 94 SRC, a 94 full rifle full mag, in round and in oct and a 55 takedown......IIRC

Nope have 2 Rangers and an Argo but no Rhinos

Got no cows but will keep an eye open for my horse and donkeys..........will be shooting against about a 10 ft ridge of snow that I pushed up from plowing my shop yard. All should be safe and well.

Hope yer floors dry this morn..........I hate plumbin too........just had to fix a leaky tap under the sink Mon, but I happened to have an identical tap, brand new in my plumbing inventory, so I was able to just change out the old stem and seat for the new one and voila, no more wet cupboards and kitchen floor. Oh by the way mine are soldered copper, so a real PITA to change out..........much easier to repair.

I'm gonna have so much fun this aft that I'll just have to come in and share some of it with you fellers, might even take some of them photograph thingies to share with y'all as well...........

Fruck'n floorzs were dry until I read the "closed" writ awn them taps.
They lied............floor's fruck'n wet, walls fruck'n wet, fernace fruck'n wet,
carpets wet and last butt nawt least..............Looky fruck'n wet.
Then the Ooseydawg wants to play bawl.
Bark bark bark throw the ball you f*****n hewman bark bark bark.........

Oh, anyone have a bark collar fur sail?
Send me a p.m.
Yesth, I'm serious.

Taking time owt to dry awff and settle me nerves'ear awn CGN.

Have fun Sir Douglas.
And oh, decide witch wun dem 25-35's yew don't need.
Even'if the bore is awll krawtchittitty, it'll werk.

I'll have me two tables as last year at the April show.
Oh wait, yew t'wern't there now were yewzse.......................:onCrack:

Well yes I did have fun and me and the boy (he's not in school today 'cause he's got an ear infection) managed to reduce my inventory by about 250-300 rounds. I took some photos of the Ranger looking like a porcupine with all them guns sitting out the sides, HOWEVER I did not have a chippy hooey dooey in the camera, so I have no way to get it on Photobucket and hence to here..........sorry...........
We took 17 of my of my old Winchesters and my new Miroku 44-40 and shot them all..........went through 50 X 25-20, 50 X 44-40 and an assorted allotment of all else from the 218 Bee to the 45-90. Laid out an old king size sheet on the ground so as not to get the brass all dirty and wet and snowy, worked like a hot damn with almost every case landing on the sheet.
My old oct barreled 38-72 flatside 95 really impressed me with it's accuracy, bouncing popcan every shot and the Mod 65 Bee was about the same. The Mod 55 25-35 was right on the mark as well but a few of the others need minor adjustments to get them hitting cans semi regularly. My 86 in 45-90 squibbed a load on me and stuck a bullet about 2" up the tube, but we just took it in the shop and popped it right out with a 1/4" smooth steel rod. The next 5 all went bang just like they should. The 348 punches the shoulder a touch more than the older stuff, and they were new Winchester factory 200 grnrs.
All in all there are some seriously holey pop cans, bleach bottle and coffee can.

Douglas,
just the memories on all your lever rifles on table in the gun show and the face of people trying to buy some was hilarious ...

the LGS may sell some of the old part of the collection if any interest ....

What's your take on the quality of Miroku vs. The Original?

Sounds like a fun time. Sometimes it's pretty darn fun just blasting away at some cans.

Original all the way!

Just me and my gran'pa's....1960 .30-30 (9 rounds total ever) and my Mossberg. 30-30 topped with Skinner peeps and dovetail blank with extra aperture.

Does the job, lots of fun. Chews through leverevolution!

My other grandpa's still holding on to the octagon barrel one it's a 45-70 I think only seen it once.

Well this thread has become a full blown lesson in Lookanese.............Even I don't quite get it all and I'm usually pretty good at deciphering most of it...........

Anyway thought I might give y'all a quick run down of the cartridges and rifles we shot today........They are all Winchesters, even the Miroku has Winchester printed on it so I guess it's a Winchester too.......

Mod 65 in 218 Bee
Mod 92 SRC and full oct rifle in 25-20
Mod 55 TD button mag in 25-35
2 NRA 30-30s one is a copy of the Mod 64 the other is a 94 full wood musket 26"
Mod 71 348 std sporter
2 38-55s 94s both button mags with one being 1/2 oct
Custom order Mod 86 with a 28" oct barrel and full mag in 38-56
Mod 95 flatside oct barrel 38-72
Mod 95 std sporter in 38-72
Mod 86 rifle full mag oct in 40-82
Mod 92 SRC in 44-40
Miroku Mod 92 SRC in 44-40
Mod 86 full rifle round in 45-90

C1936........I love the Mioku Winchesters, they are every bit as well made as the originals. My 65 (92 derivative) in the Bee is smoother than the Mirokus but then they are brand new. The Mirokus are better obviously because of modern steels but the fit and finish is as good as the originals too. They are definitely a high quality lever gun.

Bashaw sports has a brand new Miroku 1892 in 45 colt. Half octogon- half round with the button magazine. Super light and handy. On sale for $1060. I wanted it pretty bad, but just bought a CZ 527 Carbine. It certainly had nice fit and finish, I was impressed.

How about a photo of all them goofy numbered rounds you shot so one
can get a grasp as to size of loaded ammo verses the numbers they represent?

40-82 & 45-90 sound fun.
