lever gun question

Nothing. Never noticed that issue with my levers.

Are you shooting cowboy action with your lever guns? Putting 10 rounds down range in 2 to 4 seconds?

Leather is good and tied on (similar to a tie on recoil pad). Some of use just use lace leather and wrap it around the lever several times. Works well. I suggest putting some G36 oil under the leather on the metal lever before you wrap it either way to try and avoid rusting as the moister comes out of the leather.

I guess you could call it "action shooting" ... just having fun trying to keep up with the boys with the semis while out playing in the back 40 :D

May just be the number of years of wrenching on cars and slightly "numb" fingers from other abuse ...

Well that would be it then. All the fast cowboy shooters have their levers wrapped. I may even re-wrap mine to make it thicker. The purpose is more or less to take up the space to avoid slapping your fingers into the lever in rapid firing. If your hand fits in there nice and tight (hey now), it makes competitive shooting easier, quicker, and a lot less painful thus making it safer.
