Lever Guns - Hammer down, or half cocked?

That sear sits in the hammer notch pretty good. It would be almost impossible for it to fire in that position.

There was an old model 92 44-40 kicking around the house when I was young... with enough thumb pressure you could push it out of the half-#### into the fired position. I use the half-#### on my 94, but still pay attention to where the muzzle is pointed and keep my finger off the trigger.

The reason they've gone and put safeties on lever guns is because people are too stupid to use the half ####. Walking around with the hammer down and resting on the firing pin and subsequently the primer, is extremely dangerous and I don't understand why people can't see that. The hole purpose of the half #### is to keep the hammer off of the firing pin. If you were ever to fall or drop your rifle, it could detonated your primer if the hammer is in the down position. It just seems like common sense to me, but frustrating that people don't know that.
