Agreed, I like my BoarBuster Shadow. The 45-70 packs a punch! Topped with a Sig Sauer Romeo5 red dot. Keep an eye on Cabelas' sales...

But then again, it's hard to beat a Takedown version of Taylor's & Company 1892 in 44Mag... With a Sig Sauer Romeo5 & Fenix 3100 Lumen flashlight. I got this one off the EE and it wasn't 3K, that price is crazy!

I just recently sold a Henry walnut and blued 45-70 for a $1000 plus shipping, it was in very good shape, it was my last lever and looking at prices I don't think I will buy another.
 
I just got my hands on a new Rossi 16" .357 stainless. I havent shot it yet but it gets a lot of cycling on the couch lol. The fit and finish is quite nice and the action is pretty smooth. Yellowstone and RDR2 were definitely influencing factors

I'd hardly classify the 45-70 as undesirable.
 
Japanese Winchesters are the nicest, but to the point where I would feel bad using them hard...however since I don't want to spend that kind of money on a lever it's really not a problem after all :)
 
The Yellowstone effect, coupled with Wind River, Jurassic Park and now the en vogue "tactical levers" have driven up the prices. I also believe that the fact that Ruger has been slow to get new Marlins to the Canadian market has compounded that.

I was just basing my comment on my observation of Epps' new Winchester listings over time as I'm watching for stock on a particular rifle and calibre. I note that those calibres i mentioned are available in new Winchesters and don't seem to move too quickly where by comparison anything new in .357M .44M or 30-30 is gone almost as soon as it's listed.

It is funny how tastes change, I am out of levers now, but if I ever got another it would be a 45-70. No desire anymore for .357, .44 or 30-30
