Those with either Win 94AE’s or Marlin 336’s, whats the concesus on Optic size? 2-7/2-8 or just the standard 3-9x40 ?

With a lever most shots are going to be under 100 m so high magnification isn’t needed. Most of the time your scope will be set on low power. Always time to dial up if something is seen at distance. Most of my levers carry a 4 x. Only time I actually used higher magnification was at the range when I had variable power on them.

I have a Leupold VX-3HD 1.5-5 for sale that is a great option for a lever gun, provided you have a top rail on the receiver. I had it on my 44 magnum briefly.

That’s what I run on my 45-70 and I am happy with the setup.
