Does anyone know if,where, or when the soft plastic tip bullets used for Hornady's Lever revolution ammo will be available to reloaders ? Sure would save a pile of money.

are you sure this isn't just another gimmick bullet to foist on shooters, a short pointed bullet won't shoot much flatter than a long blunt one, penetration will suffer, due to low S.D., most of the rifle cartridges that they are promoting this bullet in are as effective as they are because of a heavy, wide bullet, with a flat nose, and deep penetration. Loading this bullet to higher speads will just hurt penetration even more!

PP.

This was answered in an earlier post when the ammo first came out, they were tested in extreme cold with no problems.

And I found this in the Hornady FAQ's:

Q: When will you have LEVERevolution bullets available for sale to reloaders?

A: The demand for our LEVERevolution ammunition is so high, that every single Evolution bullet we manufacture is sent to the ammunition plant to get loaded as ammunition. We don't anticipate availability of component bullets for quite some time.

What penetration results are being referred to re: Evolution bullets??? Our testing shows light jacketed bullets in the large calibers perform more like varmint bullets, lacking in penetration!

I emailed, and asked them some time ago, they said "never"..... "Maybe".
That is to say that at the moment, they have no plans to ever offer the bullets to handloaders, but, that could change.
I don't have the email anymore but that about sums it up. It will be a decision by Hornady Brass, when and if the day comes.
