Hornady's LEVERevolution ammo will work in 45-70 Guide Gun (GG), right? How much would that extend range in the GG? I take it GG is up to 150 yd gun. I don't own GG but I always wanted one.

Thanx.

I'm thinking these bullets only change the trajectory so slightly that if you don't practice shooting them a lot you should keep all shots within 200 yards...

Just make sure if you reload the bullets that you shorten the case trim length to Hornady's recommended case length which is a bit shorter than normal this is due to the ogive of the FTX bullets.

I do not load the 325gr FTX for my Marlin 1895GS 45-70 but I do load them for my T/C Contender carbine in 45-70 so do not need to worry about the case length I just trim to regular length (these rounds will not feed thru my Marlin)...

these dont like to feed very well through my 1895m, but it says something on the box about changing the follower in the mag tube if i remember corectly.

make sure you've trimmed the brass to the specs that hornady has suggested. I've never had a problem. These are my hunting load now.

So essentially they do work in GG up to 200 yds!?

Shoot to whatever distance you can consistently/reliably hit the target my comment was most people don't shoot there 45-70's enough to shoot further.

Myself I have no issues shooting further but I shoot a lot...

I have some for my GG to, I have read some stuff on some US boards that said the results from these rounds were less then impressive on some of the bigger stuff like Bear. Still they are fairly cheap.

I haven't used the Leverevolution, nor do I intend to. In my opinion they are just a high priced gimmick.
45-70 and long range go together with heavy bullets, not the 350 grain variety.
A friend of mine shoots 45-70 in competitions to 500 yards in single shot rifles. He thought he would get ahead of his buddies, so he he got a mold that made pointed bullets. He told me the pointed bullets required exactly the same amount of sight adustment, as did the flat nosed ones!

They are extremely accurate in my T/C Contender and I do not plan on hunting grizzly with a single shot 45-70 unless I had too... :D
