Well here we are a week before I'm off moose hunting & I had to pull all my left over hunting loads & dump the powder
Now I'm looking to work up a load QUICK preferably using one of these two powders :)
Does anybody have loading data or specific loads for 270-280 cal guns??
I'd sure like to get a jump on starting to build a load for hunting :?

Call Andrew @ Higginson 1 613 632 9300 they sold the powder. I use H4350 data with 47N, but err to caution start low. Did some experimenting with 47SL 10 in the 3006 but found it to be to slow...

I was loading Barnes 160 gr XLC's in my .280 rem for the previous 2 years with 47 N from Higinsson's. The load was 52 grains but work up SLOWLY, this load wasn't showing any pressure sign in my rifle at mid fall temps but 53 grs was hotter than my preference IRCC velocity was in the 2750 fps neighbourhood. I wish Higinsson's still had 47N I prefered it over 4350 very low extreme spreads. Hope this helps.

As soon as Higginson's put 47N on sale, I laid in a bunch. It is a great powder in the 30-06 with 165 grain bullets, giving good velocities, low spreads and it is relatively clean also. I have always used the "2 grains below IMR4350" guideline when developing loads and have never run into problems. 47SL10 is also a great, consistent powder, but is slower than 4350 in my experience. I have used up to 62 grains behind the 165 in the 30-06 without any undue pressure signs. The spherical shape of this powder makes it an excellent one to meter through a powder measure. Regards, Eagleye.
