LF experienced opinion on Compact scope

Thinking about a new scope for my 35 Whelen. Interested in the VX3 1-5X20 with the German #4 reticle and the similar scope with the Illuminated Circle Dot reticle. I am drawn to the Illuminated Circle dot after years of playing Army and most of my hunting with this rifle is in the bush and most shots are typically within 200 metres.

Anyone out there able to provide an experienced comment on the Illuminated Circle dot on the compact scope?

I have both scopes except the illuminated version is the small cross in the middle of the bigger posts. Either would be an excellent choice for your application IMO. When set on 1.5 you can shoot with both eyes open which is great for moving game and close quarters. The illuminated reticle is awesome in the thick with failing light,
