Liberals plan to ''End Gun Violence''

Straight from the Liberal's own page: liberal.ca/our-platform/ending-gun-violence

"Our communities should be safe and peaceful places to live and raise children, but American-style gun violence is rising. 2019 saw the rate of firearm-related offences rise for the fifth straight year, and the homicide rate was the highest in a decade, with 40% of homicides involving firearms. That is why, in May 2020, we took action to put a ban on the use, sale, or import of assault weapons most used in mass shootings and implement a buyback program for owners."

At the same time, we are investing in prevention efforts and are providing $250 million directly to municipalities and Indigenous communities to give at-risk youth the opportunity to be engaged in activities to stop the spread of gang activity.

Conservatives vowed to repeal this ban with the support of the gun lobby, which would resume the proliferation of assault-style firearms in Canada. Liberals believe even stronger action is needed to get weapons designed for mass casualties off our streets and out of our communities.

A re-elected Liberal government will:

Toughen our laws on banned assault weapons by making it mandatory for owners to either sell the firearm back to the government for destruction and fair compensation or have it rendered fully and permanently inoperable at government expense.

Crack down on high-capacity magazines and require that long gun magazines capable of holding more than 5 rounds be permanently altered so that they can never hold more than 5 rounds

Ban the sale or transfer of magazines that could hold more than a legal number of bullets, regardless of how they were intended to be used by the manufacturer.

Set aside a minimum of $1 billion to support provinces or territories who implement a ban on handguns across their jurisdiction, to keep our cities and communities safe.

We would also continue to combat gender-based violence and fight gun smuggling with measures we have introduced such as:

Lifetime background checks to prevent those with a history of abuse against their spouse or partner from obtaining a firearms license.

“Red flag” laws that would allow immediate removal of firearms if that person is a threat to themselves or others, particularly to their spouse or partner.

Increased maximum penalties for firearms trafficking and smuggling from 10 to 14 years imprisonment.

Enhancing the capacity of the RCMP and the Canada Border Services Agency to combat the illegal importation of firearms.

Conservatives do not support these reasonable and important measures and will weaken protections that currently keep Canadians safe.

Once again, it has never been more important to ensure they do not get back in any do any further damage to Canada.

Why is no one calling the Liberals out on their lying and publicizing the fact that ASSAULT WEAPONS, i.e. SELECT FIRE have been ILLEGAL SINCE 1977.
IN 1977, BILL C-51 BANNED FULLY UTOMATIC FIREARMS, i.e. ASSAULT WEAPONS.
And now the Liberals invoked S.39 and refuse to provide evidence so they no longer have to prove that the lies they are telling aren’t lies.
Federal ethics law? Nothing the Liberals feel they have to follow.

Because by and large Canadians want nothing to do with guns, and if push comes to shove would rather there just be zero guns. If we make elections about guns the conservative party loses. And to those thinking the PPC is your friend. Maxine Bernier didn't even bother voting no on bill C-71. Your were of so little importance to him, that he didn't even show up for the vote.

And the Liberals have managed to link firearms ownership with being American.
There's nothing Canadians like better than to tell themselves they're better than Americans.

I read the new proposed mag law as all long gun mags will be 5rds, Whether its a cooey 22lr or a lee enfield.

Exactly right. I don't care much for O'Toole either but it comes down to either vote for him or live with Trudeau. The PPC will be lucky to get a single seat. Keep splitting the vote and we'll see a Liberal majority.

It's scary to think, if these numbers are even remotely close, how many millions of gullible people we really have in this country, thats scary for the future, if their acctualy fine with the last five years then, absolutly wow!

Almost makes you think Trudeau's right. This land of idiots has found their idiot king.

New poll that just came out an hour ago. Looks like we're going to lose our guns if these polls are accurate. The NDP will support the Libs on their gun platform and we're toast.

The PPC voters still don't get that a vote for PPC is a vote for Trudeau.

Edit: Was just listening to Rush, and these lyrics (Neil Peart) just hit home:

"When they turn the pages of history
When these days have passed long ago
Will they read of us with sadness
For the seeds that we let grow?"

Polls me squat. All they are intended to do is sway undecided folks that think they are backing the winner. Election results are the only thing that matters. Vote for who you want and deal with the fallout if it actually happens. Believe me, the turd is just as worried about loosing his position.

I think he’s too conceded to think he could actually lose his seat or power. He’s delusional.

The scary thing is that there were enough gullible idiots to vote this moron in twice already. He is a corrupt, arrogant, lying, self entitled piece of sh!t and people still voted for him, twice. That's what concerns me.

With PPC voters splitting the conservative vote, the Turd will be voted in for the 3rd time. Liberal gun bans will have NDP/BQ support with a minority gov too. Bill C-10 too (internet censorship bill) and capital gains tax on our primary residences.

The only thing that could save us is a CPC majority which won't likely happen (again, due to the PPC splitting the vote).

LPC minority is the way it's looking imo and the only delusional people are firearms owners who still think the LPC will not take their guns.

Those rumours regarding all SA SG, LG and HG getting banned are not rumours.

Poly and the CGC are active on the gun file and haven't stopped.

And before anyone goes there: No.
It will never matter that all of these changes and confiscations and prohibitions don't save a single life.
There won't be a "gotcha" moment that proves us right.
Poly, CGC and the Libs will never be called to account for their failed policy.
And they won't care.
Safety was never their goal anyway.

I agree that splitting the vote is a bad idea.

Instead of wasting a vote on "Liberal Lite" (CPC) everyone should be voting PPC.

2.5 million gun owners is less than half of the advanced poll vote and many of them don't like anything that's not wood stock and bolt action. Outside of several very red states in the US, the PPC is unpalatable there. Let alone Canada, which is in every way attempting to "Not-be-the-US". Don't get me wrong... I personally am not PPC bashing, but when +/- 60% of the vote is pushing for extreme left policies, PPC is a wasted vote.

Sadly, I predict the Liberals will win with another minority government. A bad day for firearm owners, but the gains the Conservatives had early in the campaign seem to be diminishing.

Don't give up hope!!
To try to lighten the mood, does Trudeau remind anyone else of Lt. DIKE from Band of Brothers? Or is it just me,?
