license?

Where I am at,(Yarmouth NS) they conduct the pal/rpal course periodically at the comunity college(seperately).

full cost of course,$50, test included.
they fill in their bit of the application, you fill in yours and attach picture, into the mail you send it.

3 nights of 3 hour sessions, all in one week. I guess it is a pretty good deal compared to what I am seeing here...

That price seems like alot. For my pal/rpal classes and exams it was $83 ($63 for hunter safety and non restricted exams and $20 for rpal class and exam that took 3hours)

That Terra Nova looks like a scam. Too many stock photo's and animations to be legitimate. All it's missing is reference to Prince Abdule and how he needs 5 post dated cheques for $100, so he can ship you a million dollars in gold :p

I had to edit this to include: I just noticed the lady in the banner blinks as well. This site just screams "Quality" lol

Terra Nova Armoury is A SCAM

If you knew you could do it online then why are you here complaining that you went there?

you wanted it done in a hurry and you got the knowledge u needed, you challenged the test and probably failed because you either didn't pay attention or are an idiot, he tells you everything that they will test you on. if you take something thats supposed to be a full weekend long and condense it into 1 day you have to expect the barebones, if you wanted half a day to fool around with dewatts wait 2-3 month on a waiting list to get into somewhere thats certified. your options are more than open.

if you didn't want to pay to know what was on the test well then you should've just written the test smart ass

No I failed because I lacked the practical experience needed the course provided by terra nova uses old pre ww2 weapons yea some of the actions are similar but lots of stuff is very different from newer guns. Also I needed it done in a hurry but that is not even the case with this place. You do not get to do your exam on the same day as they mentioned so not only did I have to wait for an examiner who was able to take me, but I also had to waste part of a second day and gas to go to the exam. Terra Nova Armoury claims to be "authorised instructors of cfsc and crfsc" and when asked they will tell you they are but this is not true.

You should be ashamed of yourself defending this obvious scam. I do not stand to benefit by telling people to avoid the place I am not an instructor nor am I encouraging people to take any specific course I am just telling them to take an authorised course to save them time money and grief. and you say I failed because I am an Idiot well say what you will but you are also an idiot because if you took the course and did pass then %100 you would have passed without taking this ridiculous scam course so congratulations on wasting $160 and being proud of it. I wouldn’t be surprised if you actually work for terra nova armoury, because you are the only person actively defending their scam. Just look at their website it is full of lies meant to trick people who aren’t properly informed of the requirements and procedures like I wasn’t before.

Hi, im looking into getting my rpal and have come across a few places in toronto to go get it. York firearms is full until april, as well as bass pro shop and target sports. So, i came across a place called terranova armoury. They want a $240 credit card payment online in advance for a one day course for seemingly either rpal or pal. This seems sort of weird so i have decided to ask everyone... has anyone taken the course at this place? It seems sketchy so far. Thanks.

Heres the site link:
http://www.terranovafirm.com/

have a look at this site dont go with terra nova armoury!!

lol i work for canada customs. i really could care less about them i just had a good experience thats all. to me it doesn't matter if he has a license or if i get a nifty certificate saying i passed the course. he taught me enough (and you're probably right about being able to learn it elsewhere for cheaper) to pass the test sooooo having my pal in my wallet is all i care about.

Side note: the word "Scam" has now been over killed...

I took my instruction through Terra Nova Armoury. I found the session to be extremely informative and valuable.

The information was practical and was centred around what you must know to successfully challenge the written and practical PAL & RPAL through a certified examiner. I did make a lot of personal notes, which is my style of learning.

Substantial amount of information must be shared with attendees in any PAL RPAL training. Anyone serious about firearms licensing will need to be proactive and dedicated to making notes, reviewing notes and material prior to challenging the exams. Again, there is a great deal of knowledge to be shared and imparted.

In my case, I did have to make a separate appointment with an Examiner and was successful in both my PAL and RPAL exams. To ensure I felt sufficiently prepared, I did put in my own time to review the manuals, my notes and watch the online RCMP firearm safety videos.

You do not need to be CFSC trained to challenge your PAL & RPAL exams as long as you are over 18 years old.

Nobody is entitled to pass their exams just because they took a training or instruction session! There is a lot of detailed specific firearms related information to digest and not everone passes their written and practical exams!

Furthermore, a firearm is a firearm - not a weapon. This lack of fundamental understanding is of concern as it suggests a lack of personal dedication and effort that is required to be prepared and successfully pass the exams.

He does it all in one day but he is not authorised to teach the course, you will not recieve your cfsc certificate by taking the course with him. the books he used were from 1998 missing some of the new section and he tells you that you will do the test that same day then makes up a fake story about the examiner getting sick. this is dishonust as many people go with him because they need to get it done fast. all he provides you is a crappy study session that you could do your self by reading updated manuels that are available online. in adition the hands on experience with the firearms he has is limited 1 hour if that sharing with everyone so you would only really get 15 minutes handeling a weapon and you are doing it in your free time while he is out of the room. no one would benifit from this course if someone tells you they took it and passed their exam then they would have passed without going to this course and just reading the manuels online. essentially you are paying 160 dollars after he refunds your 80 to sit in his house for 8 hours and listen to him ramble and at the end of the day you dont get to do your exam and the course does not count as a cfsc so for $160 you get a 1"*1.5" photo of yourself. which he says would cost you 15 dollars but that is a lie you can print your own photo of yourself no problem.

*********************************************************

SO AS I MENTIONED EARLYER DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE IT IS A SCAM TO TRICK YOU OUT OF $160 YOU DO NOT GET A CFSC CERTIFICATE OR MUCH PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE THE THEORETICAL INFO IS OUTDATED AND THE LIST OF EXAMINERS CAN BE FOUND ONLINE. HE ALSO TELLS YOU NOT TO MENTION THAT YOU TOOK THE COURSE WITH TERRANOVA WHEN YOU GO TO AN EXAMINER "WHY" PROBABLY BECAUSE IF YOU DID THEY WOULD TELL YOU IT IS A SCAM!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE OR IF YOU STILL WANT TO GIVE IT A TRY PLEASE CALL A CERTIFIED EXAMINER FIRST YOU CAN FIND THEM ONLINE AND ASK THEM ABOUT TERRANOVA THEY WILL TELL YOU THAT IT IS A SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

Terranova raided by police jan 22 2012

On January 22, 2012 TerraNova firm was raded by the YORK REGIONAL POLICE, with 13 people in our class.
The police took statements from each of us.
The instructor was in alleged violation of MANY laws and was scamming ALL of us.
He is NOT a registered or accredited teaching facility.
He is NOT licensed.
He does NOT have a business license or incorporated company.
He has NO insurance.
He is actually a real estate agent (google his real name and you can easily find him).
He made up the same stories (that I *know* after doing some research) about examiner having an accident and not being there.
Refused to give us our money back on the spot, despite the Police being in attendance and our requests to do so.
If someone is going to so blatantly LIE right off the top, how can anyone think that this person is a legitimate or upstanding individual that we should be taking 'training' and counsel from.

DO NOT GO HERE.
IT IS A SCAM.
YOU GET NOTHING AND LEARN NOTHING ABOUT SAFETY. You only learn about what is on the test.
FOR GREATER CLARIFICATION:
Old books from 1998 with pages missing and torn (and not enough for all of us).
Not enough room in the house for all of us to sit and learn comfortably. (yes his RESIDENCE in a RESIDENTIAL neighbourhood).
The guy speaks SO quickly you can't understand him (plus he has a strong accent).
The police stated that his 'certification' is not worth the paper it is printed on and that we were all getting scammed.
The examiner was not there (examiner is supposed to conduct test immediately following course).
He wouldn't answer questions about the process until we had been there an hour.
He refused to tell us we were not taking an exam until we had been there an hour and one of the guys explicitly asked it and demanded an answer (instructor tried to mislead and evade the question/answer).

SUPPOSED COURSE IS HELD IN A HOUSE, on a residential street, in a residential neighbourhood. If I was his neighbour, I would call the authorities to have him shut down for conducting business from his house without a license or regard for the community.

DO NOT GO TO TERRANOVA.
YOU WILL WASTE YOUR MONEY, YOUR TIME AND GIVE MONEY TO A SCAM ARTIST.

Think about how much money this guy is making: 12 people a weekend at $240/head = $2880 a WEEK in pure profit!!
I have nothing against entrepreneurs, but only when I get something for my money and time.... How can he be taking this much money then and he doesn't even have enough books (or even current ones) and has antique guns that are SO old they look like they would break if you touched them.

Can you post a link to a report on this raid? I searched the Peel website, google and Toronto news sites (CP24 and CityPulse) and can't find anything. I sent an email to a cop family member near Toronto who might be able to confirm this but until then??

Both myself and my Brother took the Non + Restricted course through Terranova a couple months ago and had a great experience with the class. The instructor was very informative, friendly and gave some great tips which were very useful for our written/practical exams. Not only did we have hands on practice with a selection of safely disabled firearms, we also went through the textbooks and he gave a very indepth review of the most important information which would assist in passing the exams successfuly. In addition to this he gave us optional homework with links to some great review sites to refresh before we took our exams.

For the record we BOTH passed the two written exams AND practical portions scoring 90%+ each! Another example of the internet being where you only find the negative side of feedback.

John

*And for the record, as I'm sure it will be implied, NO I don't have any affiliation with the company whatsoever, like "Jeringate" we just had a good experience, had no problem passing our exams and are now happily awaiting our licenses in the mail.

I was also looking at these guys, and they seemed a little pushy with the c.c payment from me, months before i wanted to take the course

to be honest, at the point where 2+ people call scam on it, i'd stay the hell away from it. just to be safe. theres plenty of places around to take the course so why risk it? if just 1 person called shananagans on it then ok maybe they're over reacting to something silly... but if i had to do it all again i wouldnt even consider them

Must read** set the record strait on terranova

Hello all.

I would like to set the record strait on TERRANOVA from my personal experience.
I am a cityboy. My father never had any guns nor did grandfather. I had ZERO experience with firearms before I took the the course at TERRANOVA. The booking was smooth, the course was very informative. What I liked about the course was that I was taught EXACTLY what was needed to pass the examination. I was happy with the time I got doing hands on and getting familiar with the guns as I had never done before.

The price for the course was good imo, and I liked the fact it was done and over with in one day. I have included an email I sent to TERRANOVA shortly after I passed the exams

As you can see I was delighted with the success I had. 94% theoretical and 98% practical. WOOT!!

Now lets deal with the HATERS!

adam4455 wrote: "I did further research and found out it is not government authorised and the practical part teaches you the wrong procedures using old weapons like an ak47"

SHOW YOUR RESEARCH Adam. All I know is that I registered, got trained and PASSED my PAL exam with flying colors. Who the F cares if its an AK47 or not? Same s**t for any semi-auto. And if its the "wrong procedures", why would my local examiner be amazed at how I handled the guns in the practical part.

jeringate wrote to adam4455: "you challenged the test and probably failed because you either didn't pay attention or are an idiot"

Then I lol'd because it is true. Laugh2

adam4455 the wrote: "No I failed because I lacked the practical experience needed the course provided by terra nova uses old pre ww2 weapons yea some of the actions are similar but lots of stuff is very different from newer guns."

adam4455, the fact is nobody could have less practical experience then myself and I still passed the practical with 98%. So this proves jeringate right, you are an idiot :)

The fact is, that you DO NOT need a CFSC certificate. I dont have one but somehow I have my PAL hmmmmm...... Adam4455 please do some research. I did some for you. here is a link on the fseso.org website. All one needs is to complete the pass the CFSC "test" not the course to get their PAL. TERRANOVA gave me everything I needed to pass the CFSC test and get my PAL. You need to be over 18 to challenge the test. Here is the link for you to read. Reference question 3. http://fseso.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=8&Itemid=5

Seems to me that adam4455 and @com are 2 butthurt failures who seem bent on spreading misinformation about TERRANOVA
OR they are competition, pissed that TERRANOVA does in 8 hours what they do in 16 and charge more in the process.

For @com to "claim" a police raid is about as crdible as me claiming to have seen bigfoot. Give proof or GTFO

adam4455 and @com both registered within 13 days of eachother posting a total of 18 comments or threads dedicated to TERRANOVA bashing. Haters gonna Hate.

From my experience, TERRANOVA gave me everything I needed to get my PAL, and that the whole reason we are here is it not?

I will be reposting this in every forum I can.
Message me is you have more questions.

TERRANOVA FTW!!!!!

lol I love praise, and agree with what you said
not everyone has a good experience everywhere they go, and often times people blame others for their own ignorance.

I just think its hilarious how many brand new accounts are being created for the sole purpose of these 2 threads
