Licenseto shoot gophers in Alberta?

Only rule about 200 yds in Alberta is about shooting within that distance or allowing a projectile to pass within that distance of an occupied building, of course if you have permission to shoot within that 200 yds it's null and void.
And most likely no gophers in GP, i know a few gun cranks up there and they never mentioned the little buggers.

So being from BC all I need to have on me is may PAL and all is good to go? I just go shoot the little critters?

There is nothing specifically needed from Alberta?

Thx, geoff

You won't need anything from Alberta to shoot gophers. Bring lots of ammo though ;)

road allowance is 66 feet

it's all based on survey chains (gunter chain)

I am a land surveyor. I didn't want to get into the "decimal" points. Just trying to explain it to someone who obviously isn't from around here. Feel free to pm me if you would like to discuss the finer points of surveying.:D 66 feet is +/- 20.013 meters. A section of land is 1 square mile or 1608.213 meters by 1608.213 meters. These distances are all of the top of my head but the should be accurate to the "dec" or decimeter to the layman.

Gophers or Richardson Ground Squirrels are NOT protected by any game laws so therefore may be shot anywhere where it is legal to discharge a firearm. This usually means private property with permission or provincial land where discharge of firearms are permitted. Certain Municipal Districts, such as the M.D. of Rocky View near Calgary, prohibit the discharge of firearms in certain areas even to landowners within those rural areas. If in doubt it is best to check with the local M.D. office of the area you wish to shoot.
