Lieberal, Anti-Gun Pain-in-the-ass Brother-in-law ... lives on a 100 acre farm/forest. Now get this ... he just bought a paint ball setup, he wants to have his friends over to run around and shoot each other, he thinks it will be great fun. Is he pulling my leg? This is the thin edge of the wedge! Maybe all these Lieberals can get hooked on paintball!

Sounds like a guy that you don't want to put a real gun in his hand.

My buddy next door doesn't like the fact that I hunt and am a competition shooter. He thinks hand guns should be banned.

So last year he called me over to the garage to show me the new BB gun he bought his kid for Xmass. Then he proceeds to draw a black dot on a peice of plywood and hangs is on the wall ten feet away. Then he starts loading up the BB gun with his trigger on the finger. I said" Earl, don't shoot at the board with a steel BB you yote, steel BB will bounce right back at you off that wood. Use some carboard box if you want a safer target to shoot at". "Naw, I'll be ok" the drinking idiot said. I reached over to his grinder and grabbed his safety glass and told him to at least protect his eyes as I walked out of his garage.

A few minutes late I heard a click, impact on the wood and a scream. The BB nailed him right in the forhead. So he bought his kid a paint ball gun instead!

It's a great opening for you. Politely mention that firearms ownership demands a greater respect for life, and that the activities encouraged in paintball just can't be tolerated with real firearms.

WTF, the Liberals have been using guilt on us for years without cause.

They seem to respond well to pain. There's a latin phrase that escapes me but translates to "what hurts you makes you learn".

Tell him it doesnt hurt and he doesnt require goggles unless he is a sissy.

Then freeze all thier paintballs just before they head out to play, sit back and listen to the limpwristed girls cry about thier brusies and eyes that got shot out.

I did spend some time talking to him, but the man abuses alcohol. It just went in one ear and out the other.

But I did take is son out to the range shooting and gave him a mini-firearm safety & responsibilty course before we did any shooting. The paintball fad disappeared shortly after that and the last I heard before he moved out of the house, was that he wanted to get his PAL.

IMO, paintball and firearms don't mix. It sends your mind two very different signals. I did paintball once years ago, and swore off it immediately after.

You summed it up perfectly, "Lieberal, Anti-Gun Pain-in-the-ass Brother-in-law ..."

I'm not much for giving advice on this sort of thing but... uhmm

Hey did anyone hear about that hunting accident? ;)

I agree. I know lots of kids like this at school.

I had a conversation with one that went something like:

"Hey, Dave, why are you such a gun nut? You're going to kill someone one of these days!"

"Ahem, you're the one who plays all these violent video games and talks about 'owning people' with sniper rifles."

Guns, paintball, and violent video games don't mix, I agree. In fact, guns were the reason I stopped playing violent video games!

- Dave.

Liberal Gun Nutz

Hey, just tell your Liberal friends that in a free and democratic society one does not take away the rights from a minority group in society simply because the majority does not share the same creed or beliefs. The Liberals, under Trudeau, gave us the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Your liberal friends may not appreciate that you like to own guns, hunt or participate in sports shooting. But you are not hurting anybody. They should not be so hasty to extinguish your rights. The Charter is a powerful tool. So we might just as well use the ammunition that they, the Liberals, gave us. I would not want to live in a country where anyones rights can be so easily taken away. I don't believe that your liberal friends would be either (or else they would be conservatives). Tell your liberal friend that he is suffering from "cognitive dissonance". (Should at least make him stop and think for a minute or two.)

IMHO, what your liberal friends need to do is to focus on the problem. Lets get control over the illegal guns and the gangs who use them here in Canada. There are gang problems in every large urban center in Canada from Victoria to St. John's. Lets get a handle on countries (like the United State Anarchy) that sell (or give) small arms to countries (like Israel) that are known to participate in genocide or other crimes against humanity.

We pride outselves that we live in a pluralistic society where the rights of minority interest groups are respected. You may not like homosexuals, but we respect their right to live and let live. You may not like Jew, Hindus or Muslims, but in our society we respect the right of those individuals the right to practice a religion of their own choice. Gun ownership should be treated no differently. As long as we abide by the law and practice responsible gun ownership we all should be left well enough alone.

I tried to make my sister understand but she is too into the new-age hippy liberal mindset. Her husband seems ok with it and would shoot if I was living near them but doesn't have the sack to disagree with her in person.

I simply stopped talking to her. Been 6 years and I don't give #### about them. Maybe a bit drastic for some though.

+1 Grouseman. Same situation with me.
Now I will admit to playing some video games (work is slow), but then I can draw the line between *click-click* and actually drawing a bead on a real person.

I am a regular IPSC shooter and I have hunted for small and large game. I have also played paintball a few times, it was lots of fun. I don't see why someone would have a problem with paintball just because they shoot real guns. Paintball is not training for real guns!:runaway: :runaway: :runaway:
