Lifting stock grain

Dust and shellac or dust and glue is a great way to fill a crack if it's wide enough to accept the dust. If it's a truly small line of a crack then the sanding dust won't fit and the crack will simply fill up with the glue used as a binder. For such a crack the thin formula CA glue wicking into the crack is the better option.

A lot depends on what the crack looks like. Lacking pictures there's no bad suggestions so far. But the crack width sets which is the best option to use.
