Light 300RUM load

I'm looking for a fairly light 300 RUM starting load, for 150 or 150 gr. bullets. These will be used to initially sight in the rifle and also because I just had surgery and can't have too much recoil for the next while.

Not being smart but RUMs were never desinged to be downloaded, all manuals specifically warn against this for the 7 especially but the 300 too. Till you heal up right, practise with a 22 for fun. The lightest, listed, 300 RUM loads are not going to do you any good healing wise.

You can purchase Remington's light load that equals 30-06 performance in their Controlled Recoil line. That way you can parcatice and also stock up on fire formed brass safely without risking a low power handload spiking in pressure.

when I was breaking in My 300RUM i Used the lightest loads of IMR 4831 with 165 gr listed in the book. Very accurate. I think if you go with the lightest loads of the fastest powder in your manual you will find a pleasent and accurate load. Don't reduce loads of slower powders below book minimum.

The only low perf load I have tried in the 300Ultra is right out of Noslers book.
80 grains of IMR-4350 over a 180grain ballistic tip for bug holes and 3100fps.

In terms of recoil reduction a muzzle brake will be more effective than anything else....Something to consider.

Save your hearing, get a good recoil pad,and use mild loads instead.
