Crazy talk or what? I now have a mueller APT in talleys on my cz452, and although it's an awesome combination IMO it's a bit big and makes the setup somewhat unwieldy for dragging through the woods. Do I have any options or do I need to buy 1" rings?

Unless you shoot lang range with the .22, a 30mm scope is excessive and they are never light, at least not compared to their 1"counterparts. Get a decent scope like a Nikon Rimfire and some 1" rings and be done with it.
