Hey CGNers,

I’m looking for advice on a lighter (and shorter) barrel for my backpacker 10/22 Takedown. What brands/products would you recommend?

Thanks!

I dont have ine myself but I looked around. Looks like tactical sol makes lightweight t/d barrels. Dont think anyone sells them in Canada though

I really like my Adaptive Tactical Charger barrel:

If you can wait a few days I'm almost done building mine.

Backpacker stock, TacHammer Charger barrel, Nodak Spud sights, Magpul optic mount, just waiting on my Vortex Venom then I can put it all together. :)

Would you be using optics only?

My 9" TacHammer without muzzle device or optic mount is 8oz lighter than my stock takedown barrel.

I'll be putting together a build thread shortly with pictures and more details.

In a nutshell my build as seen above is only 3oz lighter than the stock barrel with similar setup. With Vortex reflex sight mounted my build is only 1/2oz heavier than the takedown with stock barrel and no optic mount.

Really my setup is not lighter but I've got a shorter rifle with better iron sights and a nice red dot for the same weight as my stock takedown.

I'm guessing the Adaptive Tactical Charger barrel doesn't fit in the stock forend, right?

So along with the Adaptive Tactical Charger barrel, someone with a regular 10/22 TD would need an aftermarket stock like the X-22 backpacker or hunter?
