Who makes a nice light bolt 243, I am parting with my 99 savage I never use and have all the reloading stuff for it, so I would like a little bolt action.

my oldest son started off hunting at age 12 with a Browning Micro Medallion in 243. 20 yrs later, he still takes it out from time to time. Nice and light, an awesome rifle. There are many brands of nice light rifles in 243, an awesome cal. Y-o-u-'ll find one! :)

Good advice.Try an X Bolt,as you cant go wrong with a Browning.

There is about $600 in the 243 budget, of course the budget is a starting point. Much more important than price is getting what I want....

now you're talking! always always get what you want! got a buddy on the wet coast who just bought 2 new X-bolts. I'm waiting for his first hand report on them! One is a Micro Hunter, nice and light! I kinda think I'm gonna be shopping for an X-bolt in the next little while! ;)

X2 on the Rem mod 7 both boys have them and love them, I have 3 or 4 .243s no such thing as too many, if I only have one I tend to shoot them out in a few years.

I must also say the new Win feather weight carbine is a pretty nice rifle too.

yep, very nice rifles! I had a Custom KS in 7mm-08, but sadly they don't have the "clip" magazine! :p

Xbolts even in walnut are nice and light. I have had a hunter and now own a medallion both silky smooth actions with excellent triggers (for hunting rifles) and great magazines. I bought the medallion to build a custom I like the action so much, but thats another thread at a later date. Xbolts can be had for a decent price (AKA close to your budget) in the composite and the hunter at P&D!! Buy one you'll never regret it.

Don't know why, but almost all my rifles used to be military, even my 300 wm and my 7 mm rm. really the only Sporter is the 99 savage. I am glad I posted this, as I know little about sporting rifles and less about brownings.

Go Browning Go!!!!!! Just try an X-bolt or an A-bolt! Not to worry! ;)
