Light bullets for .308

Thank you all for your input. I am now convinced that I can get a good load with 110 to 130gr bullets. I had previously given up at 147gr when I had no luck getting into 1 moa. Thanks again.

It is a mistake to give up any accuracy for a small decrease in bullet drop for a coyote gun, especially at any distance less than 300 yds. Use the most accurate load you have for your .308, whatever that is, and go hunting.

This has been my way of thinking. I fool around a bit but usually keep it one bulet one load per gun.

I've tried 110s in several .308s and 30-06s. Results were uniformly dismal. Maybe your luck will be better.

In my 308, 3006, 300wnmag, 300wsm. All had shotgun patterns at 100yds if trying to get any speed out of 110's.
On the other hand minimum load or better yet reduced loads were tight groups.?

Quickly found a load

Well, that didn't take long. Picked up a box of 125g Sst Hornady yesterday. Tried the Varget first.... 48.5gr gave me the best group of 1/4" @100yrd at 2860fps... - 21deg. C. (19" barrel) The groups opened up when I whent to 49.0 and 49.5g. I have some IMR 3031 as well as Benchmark so I will probably give those a try as well.

I recently picked up some jacketed spire points .308'' but they are 100gr. Do you suppose data for 110grain projectiles could be a starting point for load data? Would be nice to load them to their max velocities that they can handle for varmints, as well as load them at a minimum speed for grouse hunting.
