I am looking for a very light and compact scope for a very light and compact centerfire rifle. It must be fixed power or low power variable. Tube must be 1 inch not 30mm. Quality is important, so nothing cheap will do (I usually use Swarovski scopes). Any ideas?

Docter Klassik series is a very good option. Docter is an east block Zeiss, actually it is a real original Zeiss from Jena Germany. I use 6x42. My favorite. I have S&B Klassik 6x42 and Leupold FX III 6x42also. All three are very close, but I found using Docter more often. Again all three are close and here is my ranking by quality and durability:
1. S&B (10 out of 10). Dual windage and elevation indication. You know your setting all time
2. Docter (9 out of 10). Very simple and robots. 9 because no dual indication ( maybe it is a plus actually)
3. Leupold (8 out of 10). I bit less light transmission in twilight (one man personal opinion)

Meopta's optical quality is quite good and they do a fixed power scope at 6x. I'm not sure it's compact enough for your purpose but I expect you will find the dimensions on the website.

I think Leupold still makes the 4x,33 fixed scope .. under 10 oz and good eye relief if your "very light and compact centerfire rifle" comes back a little fast. The OAL makes it easy to find appropriate mounting systems and the fixed 4x is still a pretty good "all round" magnification with the added advantage that you wont be fiddling with the power setting ... I am not a Leupold "fanboy" but have found that their scopes usually win the "lightweight" and "fit for purpose" criteria.
