Looking for a light mount for a Remi 870?

I use a Pelican M6 light

I sort of want an easy on, easy off sort of rig? Something that clamps to the barrel, extension tube or both?

The main reason I carry a shotgun, other than for hunting, is for bear protection on canoe trips. So far I have never needed to shoot a bear (hope I never do) but the last two came into camp at night and they are pretty tough to spot without a flashlight.

I am sick of holding the light in my mouth.:D

ive seen the surefire forends, and they are pricey at $350ish. check marstar, i believe they have a clamp on affair.

not trying to tell you what to do at all, its your gun, and you can take whatever chances you choose, but you realize its illegal in NB under the fish and game act to have an uncased gun at night, and its illegal under the same act to have a gun in a resort of wildlife without a valid hunting licence.

if you want a copy of the act, PM me.

I use a CAA mount on a Streamlight Picantinny (sp?) rail that attaches under the mag tube cap. Canadaammo carries the Streamlight part, and I'm pretty sure a few of the dealers here have CAA stuff.

The best solution (though expensive) is a dedicated Surefire fore end grip, with the light and pressure switch built in. May not be as easy on/off as you are looking for though.

Thanks; I have access to a copy.

I am sort of in the business. Fortunately most attacks do not happen at night. Try to explain that to clients though. This is what the RCMP firearms people had to say about it all. I used to have an ATC for different work but not any more.

Dear Mr. Smith:

Thank you for your enquiry. We apologize for the delay in responding.
When travelling with non-restricted firearms in a wilderness area you are not required to possess an Authorization to Carry (ATC).
As a firearm owner and user you will need a valid firearms licence and all firearms must be registered. When you are in possession of a firearm, you must be able to show your licence and registration certificate to a peace officer, which may include some wildlife conservation officers, on demand.

As a general rule, the only firearms allowed for wilderness protection are non-restricted rifles and shotguns.

Only the following individuals are allowed to carry a handgun or restricted long gun for wilderness protection:

* professional, licensed trappers, and
* licensed people who need protection from wild animals while working at their lawful occupation in a remote wilderness area.

I guess it is one thing if you are 30 feet from the nearest road but it is something different when you are 30 miles. I range all over eastern and central Canada and am sometimes gone for three weeks at a time. I always file my trip plans at the closest RCMP detachment too in case I don't make it out or something. I also let them know I am armed.
It is a bit more paperwork to go into Maine but it is still possible.

I will check Marstar and CAA. Thanks guys.

Here's my setup, The mount comes off in a second, no tools required.

The flashlight is a TK11

Thanks guys;

I picked up a cheap mount for under $10. I wanted to keep the swat team look to a minimum. I like the dedicated forend but it is probably hard to explain in hunting season, plus it is pretty pricey.
