So Friday I picked up a beautiful 870 Police in walnut off a fellow nutter. Not a round through her; flawless beautiful and functions great. I live in a rural area on 100 acres and I have dogs. My dogs are GSD and sometimes chase animals out into the fields at night.. pain in the ass but they do it.

Anyways, my 870 has the two shot extension and I want to add my Surefire 6P. I’m thinking about replacing the barrel clamp with one that has a small picatanny so I can mount my light and remove it during the day. I’m having trouble finding one that also facilitated a sling mount. Just a basic mount, same kind that is on the stock barrel clamp. I’d like to find one in country and not too expensive if possible. I’d rather keep the walnut forend so I do t want to replace it. This is not for tactical reasons so I do t need to be able to shut it off on the fly so bad guys won’t spot me. It’s just so when I go chasing the dogs in the fields or forest at night I can scan around and dispatch a coyote or whatever if need be.

Any suggestions?

I’ve been thinking of making something similar, I personally like the stock Rem mag tube extension and clamp as it’s basic and fits the look of a stock 870. One thing I was considering was to buy a short section of picatinny rail and drill and tap a hole to match the screw that the factory mag clamp comes with, then just find a longer screw and attach it to the mag clamp. Keep the factory screw if you want to delete the rail and put it back to normal, I haven’t tried to dry fit a rail yet but with some tweaking I’m pretty sure I can make something work. Of all the mag tube clamp light mounts out there I don’t think anyone has a sling swivel mount, which I like also.

I did a quick test fit and it should work without any issue, I might have to make a spacerto go better the rail and mag clamp to take up some of the space if I can’t file the underside of the rail to fit flush. I just have to figure out the stock screw size and pitch, I’ll just drill and tap straight through the existing threaded holes instead of doing a blind tapped hole.

So, I was in at Tactical Products Canada today and got this guy:

Designed to mount to a barrel or magazine tube around 1" diameter and flashlight, it also has a small section of (what I assume is supposed to be) picatinny rail. It was $20, so I figured worth a try.

I'll update when I get a chance to try it out with my gun.

My brother got a two pack on amazon for like ten bucks of basically what will work. Just basically a picatany that clamps on behind the stock clamp.
