Hi I've got a benelli supernova that's about 5 years old. It's got a very low round count. It is only used for Turkey season so it gets shot a bit before season patterning then just a few times during the hunt. When I was patterning this spring I got 2 misfired shells that had light indents on the primers and at the time I thought it might be from a few shells I had leftover from last year. Them while hunting I had another 2 misfires. Again primer was not hit hard.

I clean the rifle each season but I never disassembled the bolt. Never had to completely strip a shotgun before and I never before had an issue. Its a problem that seems to happen maybe 1 in 3 or 4 shots

One person I know says maybe the bolt isn't fully locking up and there is a tiny bit of play there. If I push the forend forward it looks like the bolt does push forward just a touch more.

Any body out there have any experience like this? Suggestions?

Federal top gun ammo by any chance? Due to the way the bolt is held by the action bars, their is always a little play in the action, it won't fire out of battery. Take down on these models is stupid simple, use the forend cap to push out the retaining pins, grab the trigger guard, pull it down and forward to rotate it out, lift the action bars away from the bolt and slide the forend out of the action, with your finger and thumb, squeeze the bolt head and bolt together and remove the bolt. Installation is the reverse.

had a Benelli nova that did the exact same thing, i started digging into it a bit and it seems that its a fairly well known problem for Benelli pumps. I took it completely apart down to the firing pin, it was a little dirty( they come apart very easily, watch a you tube vid). saw on another form that guys were cutting one ring off off the firing pin spring and that was fixing it, so i did that and cleaned it all up and it worked fine, not really sure if it was the clean or cut spring, but for the ease of it i'd do both and see what happens, or just buy a new spring, not sure how available they are as i didn't look into it.

This was the first time I've heard of the issue, although their are a few cases on the internet that mention the issue. I second Gldnbear's suggestion to pull the firing pin and clean it while you have the gun apart. None of the 4 I've had/have have had an issue, my workhorse just past 15,000 shells on Friday without a hiccup.
