i recently started getting a lot of light primer strikes with my shadow2. i have a 13lb hammer spring, 11lb main spring, lightened firing pin spring and extended firing pin. the primers im using are S&B and CCI which ive never had any issues with in the past. ive had the pistol since october with the exact same setup without any problem until a couple weeks ago. now i usually get one or two light strikes per mag. has anyone experienced this before?

Cci's are no good for 13# hammer spring.

I was getting like 5% failure to fire with CCI on first hit.

Federal work no problem every single one goes bang even small rifle primers (all I've used for 3k rounds).

firing pin channel is clean. so is the firing pin and the spring.

ive used about 5000 S&B primers and about 3000 CCI through this gun and the problem just started recently so i know its something that went wrong with the pistol.
a 13# hammer spring with factory firing pin and firing pin spring was giving me light strikes at the beginning but i remedied that by installing the extended firing pin and lighter firing pin spring

i will try a new 13# hammer spring and see if that helps.

edit: i didnt have an extra 13# but i did have a 15# so i will try that.

I'm running a 10lb mainspring and lightened FP spring. I've got just over 2K rounds through it now and just put 300rnds on it today with zero issues. I tried the 10lb mainspring with the factory FP spring and could pop my CCI primers but they needed to be fully seated or I'd get light strikes.

With a 12lb and 13lb mainspring, I was popping CCI/S&B/Winchester/Dominion primers 100% with the factory FP spring, then again, those were just 10rnds each. The problem I had if I used a lightened FP spring with these two mainsprings, was if I dry fired the pistol, the FP would slam forward and get jammed in the forward position. I'd have to give it a light tap to dislodge it.

I just switched over my buddy's factory mainspring for a 13lb one with factory FP spring. He put 300rnds through it today with no light strikes.

I had a problem with my FP a few weeks ago where it got stuck forward in the channel after having dry fired it. Turns out because of the rough milling combined with carbon/crud build up in my FP channel, if the FP and spring was in a certain orientation, it would be a bit gritty/sticky causing it to get held up. I've since knocked the sharp edge off the high collar on the firing pin and polished it slick and I also polished the FP channel and now, no more hangups.

so technically with a 13# main spring, lightened firing pin spring and extended firing pin i should have zero issues. im loading with an XL650 which doesnt allow me to adjust the primer seating depth but the primers are not protruding above the casing (they are sitting flush).

i would really like to keep using 13# main spring because i have small hands so my finger barely reaches the trigger for double action. i tried dry firing with the 15# spring and its a little difficult to shoot double action.

If you've put over 8K rnds through it, I'd say it may be time to change those springs out. It's usually recommended to change out the springs at around 5K rnds. Did the rounds that had the light strikes ignite when struck again?

You should try an 11lb mainspring seeing as you're already on a lightened FP spring. :)

Check your trigger overtravel screw, if it's adjusted right to the razors edge back it off a bit. Mine has been 100% for anything I've run in it (3,000 S&B , 2,000 CCI, 5,000 Dominion SRP) with any hammer spring down to as low as 11.5 and the stock Firing pin spring and firing pin. I actually tried the CGW light firing pin spring and got light strikes as it seemed the spring was so soft it didn't push the firing pin back out far enough to get a full strike, went back to the stock firing pin spring and back to 100%.

ive probably put around 7-8K rounds through it. they all ignited with a second strike except yesterday i had two rounds that just would not ignite at all (CCI's) even after 4-5 strikes.

where can i get an 11# main spring?
and where can i get more lightened firing pin springs? i dont remember where i got mine. lol

i was going to order a bunch of replacement springs from CZ Custom but they dont sell either of these items.

I get mine from ipscstore.eu under Sport Guns ET Parts. They got a lot of cool stuff there. Shipping is not too bad, about 6-8 Euros on average and takes around 2-3wks for delivery. Some items cost more than Canada after conversion so do your homework before finalizing your order and keep it under $100CDN to avoid getting dinged taxes and processing fees. :)

I got a 11.5# spare, 200 rounds on it. PM me if interested

perfect. i just ordered some 11# main springs, 11# recoil springs, 13# main springs, trigger return springs and light firing pin springs.
thanks :)

If you've got the 13# hammer spring it's not the issue. What reduced power firing pin spring is in it? DId you try the adjustment of the overtravel screw as that was a factor in some light strikes for me at the start with the CGW firing pin spring.
