Just picked up a Remington 700 SPS in 30-06. This rifle is very light, maybe a little too light. I bought this rifle for hunting, so the light part here is fine, but I would also like to take it to the range for some plinking, so I loaded up some 180 Gr. ammo and man it kicks like a mule! Maybe I should have tried 150's instead, but I want something for moose and I didn't want to go too light on bullet selection. I removed the Factory Remington "Limb Saver"
recoil pad, and found the buttstock to be completely hollow. Is there something anyone can recommend to fit into the hollow buttstock to add a little weight to this mule? It's not that I'm a recoil pansy, I've shot 30-378 Weatherby magnums with not much more recoil than this little rifle has! How about a Boyds stock? Can I get one without too much fitting?
