I re-checked the sighting on my Rem.760 30-06 yesterday. Didn't think it could be too bad, because I got a moose with it at 250 Yds. last year. Eventually I adjusted it about 3/4" L and 1/2" down shooting @100 yds. HOWEVER, I lined up the sights and applied tension to the trigger and more tension, and MORE tension. Pulled the first shot, before I disciplined myself to keep applying steady pressure while holding scope on target. Then managed to get an acceptable 3-shot group to work from. I have already worked on this trigger with an oilstone, and it is better than it was, but compared to the adjustable trigger on my Remington 722 bolt action, which I have set nice and light, it feels like I could hang an anvil on it. Every year, I remember how much I hate this trigger. Is there an aftermarket trigger group, or does anyone have an other solution. I love everything about the rifle except this. It is accurate and dependable. Leaving for moose hunting in the morning, so I am stuck with it for another year.

There are a few specialists who can better these triggers significantly. But they are few and the ones I have heard of are in the states.

I've owned both 760s and 742s and the triggers on both were not great. From everything I was able to learn at the time there isn't much you can do but practice with them until you learn to shoot well with them.

any one try this??
No but thanks - that's one of the guys I was meaning in my post above - he also provides a trigger pull service - http://www.barnesgunparts.com/triggerservice.html

Some on other forums have reported a better trigger after this service.

I think (?) you only have to send the trigger group. But south of de border - no thanks. Haven't heard of anyone in Canada specializing in improving those trigger groups.

I got an old 760 from the 60's and the trigger is nice and light, I don't recall ever seeing any aftermarket triggers for them. I'm sure a goo smith could do it for you.
