Yes, you can clean Chu wood and treat it with Tung oil.
I have one that I cleaned and oiled and it looks great. It's also my lightest stock.

Of all the modern M14 stocks that I have tried, the CQB SAGE EBR is the best for general purpose use.
 
The fulton-armory picture shows a Troy stock.

I like the JAE-100 stock, because 1, no need bedding; 2, its traditional rifle looking.

Now the weight. The JAE website lists the stock weights from 3.5 - 6 lbs. The barreled action of the M14/M1A is about 5.5 lbs. So the total weight is gonna be in the neighborhood of 9 lbs to 11.5 lbs. Not too bad. Don't you think?
 
It is a hefty rig that's for sure.
I really wanted one bad (jae), they are the c@ts @ss of m14 stocks in my opinion. But once i rigged it with a full mag, scope, mount, jae stock..... I just couldn't imagine carrying it around in the bush. I'm 5 10 170 lbs though.... a bigger guy may have a different opinion.

I think i WILL get the jae at some point, plannin on adding trips to Alberta for serious gopher shootin fun and my tricked to the max m14 just deserves a JAE for such adventures :D :D :D

Thank you for the information and a cool picture. It seems if remove the scope and the scope mount, the cheek pad, the tactical rib, the butt pad spacers, the off-hand rest, the rifle will be well under 10 lbs. That's no more weight than a National Match M14 rifle. That's how I'm gonna use the JAE stock setup - as a precision match rifle.

BTW, the MSRP is over $1100 with all the options. Order now, the delivery time is June/July.

I never got a response from my e-mail to Sage International Ltd. so I called them. They don't have a distributor in Canada. However, the lady on the phone said I should try calling R Nicholls.

If R Nicholls doesn't stock them, I think the best bet would be to contact Questar International. They are a site sponsor and seem to be good at importing M-14 parts and rifles.

Unfortunately we do not have a dealer in Canada.
I am working on this problem and hope to have someone set up in the next

Threw one of my chu stocks into the dishwasher. Am planning on using wood putty to fill in the rough splintery bits and the end and then will spray it with truck bed liner :).
