Help me settle a debate! I'm looking at light and laser combos, but I'm arguing with a buddy over possibles.

No contest. Streamlight

if it's a light that will ever be used in a defensive situation, why buy some clone whose beam will have artifacts, uneven spill and flood and produce 200 lumen ONLY when you hold you left ball slightly above your third nipple located on your lower back?

A good beam pattern with 160 LM will perform better than "200" advertised lumens any day.
See that little orange peel pattern on the tlr2 relflector? That scatters the light, illuminating the surrounding area AROUND where your muzzle is pointing. This means you don't have to muzzle sweep everything in the area to see it.

streamlight isn't top of the dog pile for lights, but from the ones I own, they are doing things right, especially when you look at what you pay.

Put it this way, I bought a Barska flashlight/red laser for my 9 mil. It couldn't hanlde the recoil, the laser kept getting knocked out of place. Not the actual device, but the laser.

That bad eh? Guess that's why I've only seen the Streamlights and the Surefires.... I'd love a SF X300 for my M&P, but the price tag seems a little steep.. the Streamlight seems like the more affordable approach, without sacrificing quality. i.e. Barska, NC Star, etc

I actually have to speak up for the NcStar 120Lumen Light/Red Laser combo. I have it mounted on my 12.5" grizzly and it has fired nearly 500 slugs while mounted and the worst that happens is the very rare time the recoil knocks the switch into the off position.

Beam stays exactly where I put it and hasn't strayed from where I set it.

I got it for really cheap so only reason I bothered with it, but that said from those on your list Streamlight only, what I am reading about the Barska is absolutely horrible online.

I would add surefire X400 and some of the stuff made by Insight which I could never ever remember their model names, like the ones run on AA batteries.
