What's the lightest scope with this approximate magnification range?

Calibre will be 6.5 Grendel.

Budget?

A VXII is about 11 oz. A 3x9 with pretty good glass.
Straight 4x or FX6 might be lighter

Could go Swaro Z series for higher mag

I made an excel spreadsheet to compare options last week and did a bunch of digging around. If I remember tomorrow morning I'll post the best of what I found.

I just traded in my Vari X 111 2.5-8×36 for a Razor HD LH 2-10×40. I'm glad I did, the G4 reticle picks up easier on my eyes then the duplex, and the field of view is quite noticeably larger on low end compared to the older leup, if your looking to reduce every possible ounce the VariX 11, 2-7 compact would be a good ticket, but if you dont mind having a few extra ounce's, I'd recomend the Vortex Razor HD LH

Another vote for the Razor LH. My 2-10 is my favourite scope I own. It comes in around 15oz if i remember correctly so theres certainly lighter options out there. It depends how much FOV, clarity, etc you want to sacrifice.

+1 for the G4 reticle. Best general purpose reticle available IMO. Sadly, I believe it has been discontinued. I too have replaced all my Vx3's with Razor LH's. They compare directly with leupold's VX5's which I haven't seen mentioned. Vx5 2-10 with a firedot is pretty nice too.

The OP was looking for something light weight, not that the VX5 is a bad scope, but at almost 18 ounces, it weighs about that of 3 of the Leupold ultralight scopes in comparison, and almost double the SWFA and Weaver V3 which are about the same for magnification. If the argument is quality or reliability maybe the VX5 is your huckleberry. I guess I'm less attached to a specific reticle though, perhaps that is a bigger priority for some folks.

I really liked the swarovski z3 3-9x36 when shopping. I settled for a nightforce in the end but weight wasnt a consideration for me for that rifle. My next rifle will wear a swarovski and weight will be an issue for that rifle
