lightweight bases and rings

Just bought a Nightforce 12 x 42 x 56 Benchrest scope for my Remington 700 heavy barrel.

Would like some opinions of what you guys think are the lightest, lowest and strongest, bases and rings for this setup...

Need to be 20 moa tapered, but light in weight is most important.....Thanks in advance
 
That scope has 40MOA internal adjustment, so I really question the need for a 20 minute tapered base. Use of 20MOA may make short range (<300 yd) impossible to zero.

Having said that, a set of TPS aluminum rings and a Near base would be a good setup.

We are just finishing up some plus 20 moa rails made of 7075 aluminum for the S/A 700s , coupled with either NF or TPS aluminum rings it WILL be very light in weight.

40 minutes of vertical isn't enough to get to 800m w/ your typical .308 F/Tr load if your 100m zero is in the center of your elevation range. If your 100m zero is in the center of your vertical adjustment, that only leaves 20 mintues availible.

My 12-42 NF BR is mounted on a 20 minute rail, with Burris Signature Zee rings, using one set of 0.010 offset inserts. (gives roughly 5 minutes more) My 100 m zero is 3 minutes off the bottom of the adjustment range, so I have 37 minutes of "up" availible.

TPS alloy rings and bases are nice and light, as are the NF offerings(although they are significantly more expensive). No experience w/ the ones that Rick mentions, but I'm guessing it's top quality like the rest of his stuff.
 
I personally like the NF lightweight rings and EGW aluminum bases. I am running a couple 20MOA EGW bases and they are lightweight, they sit low and reliable.
The NF aluminum rings are amazing quality as well. They do cost a bit more than TPS rings mind you.
