Lightweight Composite Stock For M96 Sporter?

I have an M96 sporter that I bought from Tradex last year. The stock was in poor shape and I have been working on replacing it with a nice walnut one. I have now decided that having a lightweight composite stock as an option would be a good idea and would result in a nice, light, super handy hunting rifle.

Problem is, I can't find anything like that. Can anybody point me in the direction of a lightweight composite stock available in Canada? B&C do offer them, but I have heard horror stories on delivery times from them. Any other choices?

Thanks,
Mark

Ramline sucks, I have one on a Sporter swede and it is the bane of this rifles issues right now.
It's no where as rigid as it should be, and yes the overall finish is ugly.

I just checked MPI's web site and they do have one for your rifle. $329 for the blank (-$20 sale) + $100 for lightweight Kevlar (16 - 20oz) or + $150 for extra lightweight (13-16oz) or +$200 for micro-light ( 9oz). The standard stocks are 24 to 28 oz.

By the way, does anyone know what a bare M96 action weighs?

Thanks, I found them, but that is out of my price range at the moment. I found this company on another B&C thread and their prices are decent and delivery seems not bad at the moment from the sound of recent buyers:

I will likely be ordering a Carbelite stock in the next couple of days. Does anyone know what the Carbelite weighs? B&C aren't telling on their site that I can find.

Do you want just the M96 action or would a barreled action be OK? I have the M96 sporter and a M38 with the stepped barrel if that would help.

The sporter barreled action would be great. Is it a Husqvarna sporter or a custom job?

I believe it is a factory Husqvarna sporter, but I can't prove that. I bought it from Tradex as a sporter, if that means anything. Barrel is just short of 24" and a pretty light weight contour.

Weight of the barreled action with bottom metal attached and weaver bases installed is 5.0lb according to my bathroom scale.

Hopefully all the export issues have been worked out. I know some have been quite a while for B&C stocks.

Just an update, I sent an email to rifle-accuracy.com to ask about the exporting situation. This is the response I got back:

Thanks for the inquiry Mark,

At the present time I am not able to ship stocks out of the Country. U.S. Customs has said that the Bell and Carlson sporting stocks are considered a "defense article" rather than a sporting goods item. I have sent an export registration request to the Department of Defense Trade Commission which needs to be processed before I will be able to ship out of Country. I am in hopes of having this process completed in the next few weeks so that I can continue to ship the stocks. When I receive it I will let you know so you can order.

Good Shooting to You,

So they are still waiting on permits to export these stocks at this time. If I get another message that all is good to go, I will post another update.
