I like my hunting rifles lite, you carry them a heck of a lot more than you shoot them.My 358 Norma mag weighs 7 1/2 lbs.Its like packing a 22.That 35 Whelen should be a dandy.

I borrowed a lightweight 338 WM once .......... ONCE.

The thing kicked the crap out of me with each shot and after 15 or 20 shots I had had enough and went home with a purple shoulder and a bruised cheek.

There is NOTHING fun about lightweight high caliber rifles.

7-08AI on the left weighs 6lbs all up - pussy cat on the bench

35 Whelen is no problem at all in a 7lb package, feels very close to a 300 Win Mag in a standard sporter.

Very Nice.......Great Packing Rifle for Spring Blackies....hell Great for everything:cool:

Packed it last year for elk... had 2 good 6pts in the scope at 60yds last day of the season... not big enough.... they nearly got a 225 TSX through the ribs though (grin).

Whacked 2 blackies myself with it last year, and a buddy used it on his bear and texas heart on a whitetail at 150yds w/225 TSX... very impressive!

Took my moose at 251yds with a 250 Speer Hotcore, and knocked my buddies wounded 29" mulie down at ~ 250+yds on the run.. he went down hard!

One of my favorites, as it hits hard on the game end... but less so on my end.

No secret here, I am not a huge fan of 1000+ ft/lbs of recoil on my dainty little 200lb carcass (grin). The less they recoil, the mo' better I shoot them!

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

well l must say there is some impressive looking weapons there richard very very nice and since lm down to my last 5 - 7mms l have to agree on what a good caliber they are?and amphipbious l already told you get a 450 alaskan not a 450 marlin partner.then you got something buddy, but then since l just got my 50-140 back,l might change my mind on that one more time?

Sorry if I offended you in any way or came across as complaining.

I agree - nice stuff, the only concern I might raise concerning the Whelen is that from the pic the scope looks like it might be set a bit too far back. I assume you've shot it like that without getting scope-eyed.;)
