One of the recent NFA bulletins had an item on the experimental Inglis Hi-Powers. Some with alloy frames, others steel. They fared well in endurance testing for the most part, but the alloy frame models had issues.

Looks like somebody missed the boat by not offering such a model on the civilian market. The lightening cuts add a touch of panache and would make a nice custom touch on a Hi-Power.
 
The issue was that the regular gun could take the abuse. The lighter gun was just to late in the war and had development
issues.. Then
the Americans came up with the Colt Commander and the military stayed with the issue gun.
 
You mean that the war was over and the market for pistols ended.

I still think a customized Hi-Power with those cuts would look cool. It's the rage with a number of guns right now; slots and ports all over the place.
