Actually Phil you could probably drop almost 2# off one of your Zastava's by going to a super light stock like a Wildcat and eliminating the steel floor plate/magazine. Either go with a blind magazine or picking up one of the many aluminum ones made for the commercial 98's. I hear you on the Tikka. I had one, also had the 55 and 595. The T3 is lighter but that is all that can be said good about it.

If you don't mind second hand, a Handi-Rifle, N.E.F. or H&R, can be found with a synthetic stock, is light, is ambidextrous, has a very short action, and doesn't have a detachable magazine.
I honestly don't know exactly what the point of this pseudo-English diatribe is.

The main point is that the Tikka is substantially overpriced and hard to get parts for.
The less obvious point is that detachable magazines get lost.
