Lightweight rifle ideas

Indeed you have (tools) and talent, did you do the safety on your dad's No.1? Remains the nicest treatment I've seen, honestly I bought the rifle for it!

I did. I liked it aswell - I have a few other ideas for #1's.... One day I will buy one to give the full treatment.

Are you still running a factory barrel on that TI ? I have 2 of them and im looking for ideas on a rout to take ... I have a 700 TI in 708 and an Alaskan TI in 300wsm ... Am in love with both of them , Cant believe they could actually get better ...

I like McMillan stocks but you have the wheels turning on those wild cats now

Factory. The only thing I did was drop it into a m7 pattern wildcat and add a floorplate. Wildcat blanks can be had in the 17oz range, and they usually finish (at least for me) around 19oz.

I'm very impressed, I sure hope you make at least a side-living with your work you're extremely talented. I'd love to see your No.1 project when the day comes.

Thank you for the kind words, but I am just a guy who likes guns and likes playing in my shop. The #1 won't happen anytime soon, too many other irons in the fire.

Not goin to find lighter (or a slicker package in my opinion) than the Kimber Mountain Ascent. My .308 weighs 5lbs 15ozs with a real scope with turrets, 5lbs 8ozs with a 1-4x20mm Leupold VX2, 4lb 15oz bare. Seems to have all the features you want too, and is the lightest production rifle made, even with a full 22" barrel.

my, my, you have come a long way from the days of shooting Wood Choppers' Mosin Nagants at Lone Butte, grasshopper!

very nice rig!

I was wondering what you ended up doing with that one, send any down range yet? I think you still owe me a beer or something! lol.

I did in the factory stock, and it was showing good potential. Sadly it's been in this stock close to a year and I haven't had time to shoot it. I need to order my scope, and work on some loads. And yes, I owe you a beer - thanks again.

Not a super light, but my Sako runs 7lbs 2oz with sling and the VX3 (with leupold rings, not the optilocks). Its a 75 action, shilen tube in .260 rem, McMillan EDGE stock.
