Back in the 90s, when the prohibitions came out, IOT buy a handgun in Ontario, you needed a club membership. Having been living in Guelph, with my wife, we could not afford to get the membership and buy the pistol. So, like the legislation intended, we missed out on short barrel handguns.I am cautiously optimistic that Pollievre will repeal C21 if he receives a sufficiently strong majority. If you were born too late to have purchased a legal handgun prior to the freeze, then I believe that you deserve the opportunity to own one. If you were of age and simply didn't act despite the ample warning given? In that case (ambivalence/procrastination) I don't have a lot of sympathy for those who missed the boat of their own free will. Still, chances are that even the slowpokes will get another crack at handgun ownership. Next time, don't delay...
Lawfull. Do not abide bad laws. The firearms act is a bad law. We follow it because we are lawful. There is a huge difference between abiding and lawful and the change in language is intentional. They're working very hard to make firearms ownership so onerous that young people won't or can't afford to take up the hobby.I also hope many of these “wacko” policies the liberals have put in will be repealed. Axe the tax and give us law abiding firearm owners our rights back. Or at least some of our previous privileges.
You are 100% on point. Very well spoken.Lawfull. Do not abide bad laws. The firearms act is a bad law. We follow it because we are lawful. Don't cross your fingers. Vote. Talk to people. Show the dumbasses that firearms owners are safer than any other group.Really crossing my fingers and wishing the hand gun freeze would end. I just had the opportunity to get my PAL this year, wishing I could get the license before the freeze(and before the price of surplus rises).
Will do!Don't cross your fingers. Vote. Talk to people. Show the dumbasses that firearms owners are safer than any other group.

Directly from the Ontario CFO that I could not purchase and hold a pistol without being a club member. They would not authorize the transfer.
Really hope it gets removed. I need a handgun for bear defense.
Absolutely. No castle law (or doctrine) hereHome defence is not am approved reason to own a handgun in Canada.
We can only hope that common sense prevails. Gov't rarely repeal what some of the public see as public safety initiatives, especially when the previous Gov't took the public bashlash for it already.CPC has said they will repeal. That said, it wouldn't be the first time they said something before an election then didn't follow through after the fact.
I think there is a reasonable chance it gets repealed, but IMO it is far from guaranteed to happen.
