Any members using these barrels for their target rifles? I'm rebarreling my Anschutz 54 Match after bore scoping it and finding a bunch of damaged rifling and scoring. Appears that a previous owner used a stainless bore brush. Barrel ordered yesteday, only bad part is it's a 12 week wait for the barrel from Lilja and then another long wait at the gunsmiths. For those who have these barrels did you use a special break in procedure for the barrel? After the break in how are your groups at 50 and 100 yds? I will be using SK, RWS and Eley ammo.

I have one in .22LR and one in .17 HMR for my Quad and both shoot beautifully. However, if I were to go out and buy a new match .22 barrel today, it would be a Shilen, a Broughton or a Benchmark. Why? Because for the last few years, those are the barrels that are always at the top in the ARA Benchrest Nationals. See the equipment lists:

http://ara.benchrest.net/

Also, Mystic can get the Shilens fairly easily. Lilja will be a lot tougher to get.

Lilja on my Sako finnfire shoots incredible with the right ammo but doesn't digest some of the crap the original used to shoot. Tighter chamber specifically set up for Eley EPS will certainly test your extractor with some of the cheap stuff.

Over the years, I've had 54 rebarelled with Krieger, Schneider, Lilja and Hart. By far, the Hart is the most accurate. It's the only one that was chambered with a Pacific Calfee EPS match reamer. I'm sure it's not the only reason why it's so accurate but the chamber has a lot to do with it. You should ask your gunsmith what will he use for your rifle.

Which series is your 54 ? 1400, 1600, 1800 or 1900 ?

Here's a pic of 7, 10-shot groups shot with the Hart. It averages 13.5mm or .308'' center to center with a good lot of Lapua Center-X. The funny thing about this Calfee EPS chambered barrel is that is shows a definitive preference for Lapua ammo over Eley...

lilja = = = greatness

I shoot centerfire Br short range rather well to say the least,

I have about 1 1/2 dozen rimfire rifles for br and the lilja barrels I have 3 in SS with deep engraving on them have not shot them yet but most liljas are pretty nice, as good as anything on rimfire br in usa

PLEASE REMEMBER MOST BARRELS ARE REGIONAL IN NATURE ,

lilja in west coast now some bartlien,
shilen in texas
and so on,

rimfire it seems whatever calfee is not critizing sees to work each year,

lilja is the only barrel on the 3P rifles called ??? cannot remember oh yes

BLIEKER the best in the world, matt ?? from usa uses them and others

you canot go wrong if you have a good platform and know how to shoot

I had a friend rework the stock to what I wanted and here is what it looks like now with the new barrel installed.

I'm very happy with the gunsmiths work. Took the rifle to the range today to start the break in. It's a whole new rifle now and shooting it now it doesn't like being held too tight. Just a little cheek and shoulder pressure. Looks like SK Standard Plus will now be my practice ammo as I was given a partial box of Eley Tenex and Eley International Match to try. This Annie seems to like the Tenex, shot the smallest 5 shot group I've ever done .
